Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!
On behalf of the Board of Education and our District 25 staff, I am excited to welcome our students and families back to school. I truly believe that this is going to be the greatest school year ever! Though we may still have some challenges ahead that will require flexibility, we are focused on the positive opportunities to move forward together. I am confident that teaching and learning will exist at the highest level. Moreover, I encourage you all to join us as we bring back some of the school year traditions we enjoy. I look forward to seeing families at PTA events, Curriculum Nights, the ABC25 Foundation 5K, athletic games, and musical performances. I look forward to our students participating in extracurricular activities and holiday parties.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a warm and engaging classroom environment for all students in District 25. Thank you for supporting our students as they transition back into school. Thank you for supporting your neighbors as they transition back to work and to enjoying family events. I am so very grateful to our staff and families for working together to get us to the greatest school year ever!
Together Today to Transform Tomorrow,
Lori D. Bein, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Many people often ask educators why they do what they do...well, here's OUR why!
2021-2022 School Meals
Breakfast and lunch will be FREE for all District 25 students for the entire school year, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
BREAKFAST PROCESS
The breakfast program will be a take home bag given to students twice a week containing food for the attendance week. Families will only need to sign up for this program once by contacting breakfastorder@sd25.org.
When contacting this email address, families should list each child's first and last names, the school they attend, and their grade.
LUNCH PROCESS
- Lunch will be offered everyday.
- The students will walk through the line and first receive a bag with a fruit serving, two vegetable servings and skim chocolate milk with an option to switch to 1% white milk.
- Once students pick up that bag they then can choose their entree for the day.
- The Elementary schools will have one hot choice and two cold choices daily.
- The Middle School will have multiple hot and cold choices.
- There will be no ala carte food (snack items) or milk served separately from the meal at the start of the school year.
What if my child brings a lunch from home?
Students who choose to pack a meal from home are invited to take a bag of fruit, vegetables and milk at no charge. All items will be wrapped, and if a student chooses to not consume all items, they may be placed on a table in the eating area so they will not be wasted.

SHIELD Testing
SHIELD TESTING | OPT-IN
District 25 is planning to begin the SHIELD testing program in our schools for the students who have opted-in on September 8, 2021. In order to opt-in for your child to participate in SHIELD testing, fill out this form and turn it into our front office.
The SHIELD Illinois saliva-based test developed by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), is able to detect COVID-19 and its variants in symptomatic, pre-symptomatic, and asymptomatic individuals. For more information in the form of a Q&A on the COVID-19 SHIELD test in our schools, click here.
Here is one common question we are being asked:
Can I opt my child in to be SHIELD tested for when they are a close contact, only, thus opting them out of being tested weekly?
No, in order to guarantee a student's participation in the SHIELD testing program when they are a close contact, they must already be an opted-in participant. We are working with a third party provider, and that provider needs time to get a student entered into the program. We cannot guarantee that someone could be entered on day 1, 3, 5, or 7 in order to test-to-stay.
JOB OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking part-time and full-time committed candidates to assist with the collection of COVID 19 test kits. The pay is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour. Collectors are required to have their own transportation and may be expected to drive to 3 to 4 school sites per day to collect completed COVID tests.
We will be scheduling informative Zoom calls in the coming days to share more information about this opportunity. If you would like to join in on these orientation calls, Please contact Kathleen Loomis at 708-971-3656.
This year, all students will attend school in-person, 5 full days a week. As guidelines and protocols change throughout the year, we will continuously update our COVID-19 Protocols & Guidelines Q&A Document. That document and all other COVID-19 related topics can be found on the COVID-19 Hub section of our website: www.sd25.org/COVID19.
Assessment Info & Calendar
Each year, District 25 administers several state and local assessments to our students to inform instructional planning, determine who may need additional instruction, and obtain a general snapshot of students’ academic strengths and needs. This year we are streamlining assessments to create a more consistent assessment plan across grade-levels.

FEEL GOOD STORIES
Get Ready for School Event
With the help of our Arlington Heights community members and sponsors, we were able to provide 260 backpacks and school supplies to qualifying families during this year's Get Ready for School drive-thru event at Faith Lutheran. Each backpack included school supplies such as: crayons, markers, pencils & pens, 2-pocket folders, spiral notebooks and glue sticks. A special thank you goes out to District 25, District 59, Faith Lutheran, and our other sponsors for making this event possible!
