A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
I appreciate all of you who partnered with me and took a moment to talk with your student about expected behavior when they're out in our community. It is definitely a team effort!
Our Valentine Gram sales have been great! Remember you can buy one to send to your student. See details repeated down in the middle of the newsletter.
The City of Santa Clarita is offering a virtual ZOOM parent engagement workshop this coming Wednesday night, from 6-7 p.m. on Social Media Safety. One of the presenters, Michele Krantz, is currently the Principal at Pico Canyon Elementary, but was formerly a Junior High Principal in our district. She has quite the expertise on social media and I hope you can attend from the comfort of your home or office, as her social media sessions are often very valuable! New information has been released from the Surgeon General cautioning all of us as parents to be aware of the dangers social media poses to the teenage brain. For an array of articles on his announcement, click HERE. Flyers with more information on this Wednesday's parent forum are below and the workshop is FREE. If you would like to attend, please SIGN-UP.
On Monday, our phone system will now be on an automated answer giving you the following options:
Press 1 for Attendance
Press 2 for Health Office
Press 3 for Registrar (enrollment and records)
Press 4 for all other issues - this will take you to a live person during business hours 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This will help parents to get directly to the people most often asked for, without being placed on hold and transferred. It will also allow parents to get to a person without listening to 8 or 9 different options like other auto answer systems. We hope these simple four options will be helpful for our parent community.
In this issue learn more about:
- Yearbook Ads due date
- Traffic Safety
- Review of Valentine Grams, Rio Robotic's Fundraiser, Hart Games, and Castaic High School's Flyers for their upcoming 8th grade parent meeting
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bennett
