HGHS Graduate Awarded Critical Language Scholarship
Samuel Watson, 2016 HGHS graduate and current student at the University of Alabama, was awarded the Critical Language Scholarship to study overseas. Boys Basketball Tryouts
Boys basketball tryouts for rising 9th-12th graders will be held April 12-13 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Spring training will be held April 14-16 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
All athletes must have an up-to-date physical. Please wear a face mask into the facility.
JROTC Air Rifle Team Training and Tryouts
Location: JROTC Air Rifle Range, Hazel Green High School
Dates: May 10-21, 2021 (each school day)
Training Days: May 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21
Team Qualifying Match Dates: May 20-21
Time: 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. each morning
Fee: Free (Student must be enrolled in JROTC at least one semester next school year.)

Trojan Ambassador Interest Meeting
Are you interested in becoming a Trojan Ambassador? Trojan Ambassadors are the official hosts and hostesses of Hazel Green High School. Ambassadors are a select group of outstanding students who meet and greet parents, dignitaries, and other visitors, as well as serve the administration and represent "the best" of the student body.
If you are interested in becoming a Trojan Ambassador, you will need to attend the interest meeting on Monday, April 12, at 8 a.m.
You must be a rising junior or senior.
Students will receive information about the application process.
Traditional students will meet in the library media center.

Prom Tickets on Sale Through FRIDAY: Seniors can purchase prom tickets ($5 each) from Mrs. Dean in C110 this week. The last day to purchase a ticket is this Friday, April 9. No tickets will be sold at the door. Seniors who purchase a ticket will be allowed a full day excused absence on April 16th.
*Seniors must have a ticket to enter. The event is not open to the public.
Prom: HGHS Seniors and their dates are cordially invited to attend the Hazel Green High School 2021 Promenade, to include a Grand March, class officer Lead-Out, Royalty Crowning, and Senior Slideshow. All guests in attendance will be formally announced as you enter. Each guest will receive an individually wrapped edible favor and a professional photographer will be on site for optional purchase of portraits. This event will take place in the HGHS cafeteria on Friday, April 16, from 4:00-5:30pm. Cost will be $5 per ticket. Tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Dean in Room C110, March 22 - April 9. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
Students who purchase a ticket will be allowed a full day excused absence on Friday, April 16. Seniors attending the Promenade should submit a baby picture and a senior photo to Mrs. Henderson to be included in the Slideshow. Email photos to jhenderson@mcssk12.org.
This event will take place in accordance with Madison County School System guidelines: there will be no dancing or buffet-style food available. In order to enter the event, students must wear a face mask, participate in a temperature check, present their ticket, and dress in formal attire. Only ticketed students will be admitted; this event is not open to the public.
Redstone Federal Credit Union Branch at HGHS: Have you taken Personal Finance or plan to next year? Are you interested in being a part of the Hazel Green High School Redstone Federal Credit Union branch? Please see Mrs. Miller for an application.
1. Interested students must return a completed application along with an essay and current resume. All required documents must be returned by the end of the day on Friday, April 9th.
2. Applicants will interview with a selection committee on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
3. This is a year-long commitment. You will be registered for the following classes during 3rd block:
Fall – Banking and Financial Services
Spring –CTE Lab in Marketing
You will need to attend a one-week training from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the main office building located at 220 Wynn Drive Huntsville, AL 35893.
Practice labs in an on-the-job environment at the Meridianville Branch Office located at 12256 Highway 231/431 N, Meridianville, AL 35759 will be offered until school starts. We ask that each student complete 2-4 hours a week. The time spent in training will be compensable.
You will be paid $10 an hour for all training hours.
We will also have a one-day culture training.

Wingfest: We hope the Trojan Nation will join us for Wingfest on Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 3 to 6 p.m. on the football practice field. It's going to be a fun afternoon!
Spring Musical: Make plans to attend HG Theatre's first ever MUSICAL, Ducktails & Bobbysox! The show dates are April 29, 30, and May 1. Purchase tickets on GoFan.
Football's Mattress Fundraiser: HG football's mattress fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at HGHS. Please save the date and support our football team!
HGHS Graduation: Our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be held on May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the VBC Arena. Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the VBC the morning of graduation. Each graduate will receive eight tickets for family and friends. Masks will be required for all graduates and guests.

*HGHS will serve lunch (and a breakfast for the next day) from 11:00-Noon each day to our remote students. There is no cost for these meals. Meals can be picked up in the car rider line at the back of the school.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
