Weekly & Bi-Weekly Shares
Happy NIGHT BEFORE CSA Day!
(Yes, this email is arriving early, on Wednesday instead of Thursday this week!)
Thank you for supporting Goodness Grows!
CSA PICK UP ~ THURSDAYS 4-7PM
If you realize that you aren't going to be able to make it to pick-up on Thursday this week,
give us a call at 330-549-9408 to arrange a Friday visit.
* We will be at the Canfield Fair this Friday, leaving Goodness Grows about 9am
and returning no later than 2pm. This means there will only be a little time for
a Friday pick-up this week - either from 8:30-9:00am or 2:00-2:30pm. *
Please bring in the basket that went home last week
(or the week before!) and Trevor will refill it when you arrive.
Thanks!
Farewell to Trevor

Apple Explanation
Ethan, one of our clients, and his family have a small farm where they raise chickens and grow some items, plus they have a small number of fruit trees and berry bushes. The fruit is not a cash crop for them, they just use it to enjoy at home and to share with friends...like you! AND, Ethan is pretty excited about sharing it with you. It is something he is proud to be able to do.
So, the apples in your share will not be the prettiest but they will still be tasty. Apples from a farm that does not spray do look very different than the shiny, spotless apples from a market. These apples are excellent for making applesauce, apple butter, cinnamon apples, apple pies, baked apples, and the list goes on! The old saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away!" even applies to not-so-pretty apples!
Here's an interesting piece about using the less than perfect fruit.
Eggplant
Eggplants are usually considered a vegetable but, did you know, they are technically a berry, by botanical definition? There are many delicious uses for this unusual looking produce item, but the idea below produces nice crispy "veggie"disks!
Garden Salsa Peppers
These peppers are "thick-walled, medium-hot peppers from a hybrid that was developed for making salsa. Great for adding a zesty kick to homemade salsas, chili, and other dishes." Source: https://bonnieplants.com/product/garden-salsa-hot-pepper/
Another great way to use them is as a roasted pepper.
Happy Labor Day from Goodness Grows
We hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
Hard to believe it is the unofficial end of summer already!
