COVID 4 Lockdown
New Zealand is moving into Alert Level 4
You will be aware a confirmed case of COVID-19 has been identified in the community in Auckland.
As a result, and because of the much greater risk associated with the possibility of the Delta variant, New Zealand is moving to Alert Level 4 at 11:59pm tonight.
I realise that children may have headed home without their devices. Because of the importance of the first 24 hours in tracing this virus, there can be no allowance for devices to be collected or hard-pack resources to be supplied. We will continue to review this and if this changes we will let you know. If students have devices they can continue to do learning from home and keep in touch with their teacher's for help and even to just say hello. Students without their devices can use home devices if available and still log into their google chrome or Educa accounts if they wish to.
While the resurgence of COVID-19 is the last news anyone wanted, it is unfortunately what was anticipated. This extremely short and sharp shift in Alert Level settings will support us to prevent widespread infection in our community.
Acting with extreme caution has served us well in New Zealand and will do again. We all know what we need to do to help keep our whanau, and our community as safe as possible.
Kia kaha, stay safe and be kind to each other.
2021 Intermediate Netball Champions - RIS TAONGA!!!
Beyond proud of these girls and the hard mahi they have put in over the last two terms and a half. Attending trainings after Kura and early mornings, tournaments, cold Saturday mornings and always being 100% committed to playing hard for their team and Kura on an off the court. They ended the season UNDEFEATED!!!! Way to go our girls!
Your coaches Whaea Trish and Whaea Nora along with our kura couldn’t be more proud of you #RISNetball #Champions2021
BOP/POVERTY RUGBY 15s - 1st & 3rd PLACE
On the 6th of August, a group of students from RIS competed in the Poverty Bay/ Bay of Plenty Elite Rugby Winter Tournament. Our girls competed in the 10 aside while the boys played in the 15 aside competition. The girls played their normal round-robin and won every game quite convincingly. They ended up winning the final against Tauranga and returned home with medals. The final was exhilarating! The girls were just too fast and strong for the opposition.
The boys played tough games during their round-robin. They too went through to the semis unbeaten. Unfortunately, they were beaten by the team who went on to win the tournament. The boys finished up 3rd overall which is still an astonishing achievement.
Well done to all teams and congratulations to everyone!

Community Meeting at Rotorua Intermediate School on Tuesday September 7th
Community Meeting at Rotorua Intermediate School on Tuesday September 7th *********************************************************************
New homes proposed for your neighbourhood – Malfroy Road and Ranolf Street
To help meet the urgent need for more warm, dry and modern homes for whānau and tamariki in Rotorua, Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities has recently bought the vacant land on the corner of Malfroy Road and Ranolf Street.
This land is proposed to be used to build a range of different sized and much needed warm, dry and modern public homes. Well located close to schools and community amenities, these houses would be for a range of people, including families, in need of a permanent long-term place to call home as part of the wider community.
What’s happening
We are in the very early stages of exploring how this land could best be developed for medium density public housing. It would also include landscaped shared green spaces, off-street parking, and have strong connections to the community.
We are working as quickly as we can to make progress, and would expect to start work on site in 2022, subject to consents.
We will be working closely with councils around necessary infrastructure and site specific requirements for the construction of these homes, drawing on the considerable expertise and experience Kāinga Ora has in developing land for public housing.
Keeping in touch
As neighbours in the area, it is important to us that you are kept up to date with what is happening as this development progresses.
Once we have initial concept plans we will share these with you and offer an opportunity to meet face-to-face so you can find out more, ask questions and provide feedback on these early plans.
