Parent Instructional Choice Survey
You may now request a change to your child's instructional setting (i.e. virtual to in-person or visa versa) for the 3rd 9 weeks. Please use the Instructional Choice form to request the change. The window to request a change to your child's instructional setting is from November 30- December 7th. The next opportunity to change your instructional placement will be at the end of the 3rd 9 weeks.
You only need to complete this form if you are requesting a change. Those who do not respond will remain in their current learning environment.
Coffee with SWES Leadership Team
Not sure if you want to make changes to your student's instructional placement? We have scheduled an informative Coffee with SWES Leadership for December 2nd,5:00PM-5:45PM. If you are planning to attend the Coffee on the 2nd, please let us know by submitting the Coffee with the SWES Leadership RSVP form. A meeting link will be emailed directly to you.
Virtual Workshops for Parents
As we begin to plan we would love to gather feedback from you. Please take a moment to complete the Parent Workshop Interest Survey so that we can be sure to provide workshop topics that matter to you. Virtual Workshops will be facilitated by both Spicewood Elementary teachers and parents!
Principal's Pride
As much as we would love to continue the traditional Principal Pride ceremonies each 9 weeks, we are unable to. We realize the importance of recognizing our students and will continue to celebrate them as they exemplify attributes of the IB Learner Profile. Each 9 weeks, teachers will recognize 5-6 students and they will receive a Principal Pride certificate via mail. Kindergarten students will also receive a Principal Pride bumper sticker with their certificate. The week of November 30 certificates for the 1st 9 weeks will be mailed. We will recognize students for the 2nd 9 weeks before leaving for the winter break.
Make Up Picture Day with Photo Texas
Make up Picture Day is December 3rd and it will be a contactless process for both virtual and in person students. In person students will take their pictures during the school day.
Parents of virtual students will need to use this link to sign up for a time to have their student's photo taken. Below are directions for ordering your student's photo.
- Go to http://online.phototexasphotography.com
- Use online order code: PTPUC
Choice Workshop Round 3
Spicewood Elementary is hosting a weekly Choice Workshop for students on Fridays. Each Friday during your child’s designated special’s time (both in person and virtual), students will choose one option from the Choice Workshop choice board in their Friday Schoology folder. This workshop will be a 30 minute long recorded video, and gives students the opportunity to dive into their current interests and discover new talents they may have! A new round of workshops will be offered every 3 weeks. Below are the Choice Workshop options and materials your child will need to participate. Please share these options with your child, and collect the materials needed. If your child is an in-person learner, please send the needed materials with your child on Friday morning. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Oates and Alexandra Peoples.
Choice Workshops for December 4 - December 17 (Fridays Only)
Science Fair 2021
This year the Science Fair will be completely virtual. Please note that all Spicewood 4th and 5th graders are strongly encouraged to complete and submit an experiment/engineering project for their Science Fair Project, however, considering the nature of this school year, it is not mandatory. Students in grades K – 3 can submit an optional individual project as well.
You can refer to the Science Fair Handbook for more information and/or attend the Science Fair Parent Info Session on Tuesday, December 1st, 4:30PM-5:00PM facilitated by Ms. Wambsgans and Ms. Jensen, Spicewood teachers and campus Science Fair Coordinators.
