Information for the week
I am so extremely proud of our students who stepped up to support the water drive for the residents of Flint, MI. The water collection on Friday was an absolute success. On Saturday morning, some of our students gathered to transport the water to Hyde Park Career Academy so that the water can be transported to Flint, MI. I would like to offer a very special thank you to Ms. Hampton for helping the students to facilitate such an awesome project. Great job exemplifying our mission and vision of environmental activism and social justice.

Thanks to our partnership with Discovery Education, we will be hosting our PD at the Discovery Education facility on Wacker Drive on Friday, Feb. 5. To ensure that we have adequate travel time, the schedule was amended to allow time for grading from 8-9:30. Thanks for being flexible with the slight schedule change. Discovery will provide a continental breakfast and lunch. Please prepare to board the bus at 9:30 a.m.
*The LI team will be onsite at Raby.
The PD schedule is attached.
Black History Month
The month of February is recognized as a month to celebrate the accomplishments of African-Americans. Our school has been named after Albert Raby, who was an extraordinary civil rights leader. Lets make sure that we specifically use the month of February to help students learn about leaders such as Al Raby and other leaders who have helped to make a positive impact on America. For assistance with ideas, feel free to utilize the Social Studies Department for brainstorming.
Raby Day of Service
We are excited about our 4th Annual Raby Day of Service which will take place on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. This day will celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Albert Raby.
Often times in workplaces, it is easy to use the phrase that "morale is low". We can all recognize that we do tough work everyday that too frequently feels thankless. Unfortunately, this can make us question our effectiveness. In order for us to ensure that morale is not low, we all have a responsibility to contribute to a positive work climate. Let's take a moment to celebrate each other on Friday for the GREAT WORK THAT WE DO. For our PD, please bring a SMALL gift (not to exceed $5) for a gift exchange. Let's have 100% participation as we focus on CELEBRATING EACH OTHER! Use a little bit of creativity. Let's make sure Friday is a day of learning and fun!
As always, thank you for all that you do for our students everyday!
