A Note from the Principal

Good morning, families!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I'd like to take some time to recognize the outstanding educators that we have at Komensky. There is no question that Komensky has the best teachers around! As a principal, I'm incredibly blessed to be working alongside such a talented group of teachers. They spend countless hours preparing high-quality, engaged lessons. Our teachers spend their evenings, weekends, and summers engaged in professional development, ensuring they are staying on top of research-based best practices in the education field. They are committed to doing whatever it takes. Komensky teachers are intelligent, caring, and passionate. Please join me in thanking our teachers for their incredible service to the children of the Berwyn community.

With it being teacher appreciation week, I find it appropriate to extend a heartfelt thanks to 2 Komensky staff members who will begin the next chapter of their lives as they enter retirement next month. Mrs. Laura Klinge (Lucas), a teaching assistant in our DLP program as has been with District 100 for 25 years. Her patience, as well as her love for students with disabilities, will be missed!

The second staff member who will be retiring from Komensky next month is Mrs. Jane Coughlin. Mrs. Coughlin has been teaching at Komensky for over 20 years. During her tenure at Komensky, she has impacted countless lives. Her love of reading, writing, and the arts has been shared with hundreds of students. Mrs. Coughlin is often referred to as the heart of Komensky by other teachers and has been a tremendous partner/colleague to all! We will miss you, Mrs. Coughlin.

Please take a moment this week to reach out to our teachers and thank them for all they do!

Have a great week!
