A word from Mr Broom

It's been another exciting week at Sherburn Hungate. We had a fabulous Languages Day on Wednesday and the KS1 indoor athletics team came second by only one point on Thursday. There's been lots of exciting learning taking place in classes too!

Peter Wilson, a STARMAT trustee, visited school today. It was his first visit to Sherburn Hungate and he was incredibly impressed. Peter met with the Junior Leadership Team, the teaching staff and myself. He also visited every class. He was blown away by the children's behaviour for learning and focus as well as the happiness around the place. It's always nice to hear someone from outside of school talk so positively. It makes me very proud.

Enjoy the weekend and I'll see you all next week.

Well done to those children with great attendance and congratulations to Reception who are our attendance champions this week with 98.9%

Uniform Reminder

Since Christmas we seem to have a small number of children who are attending school with nail varnish applied. This isn't part of our high expectations on uniform and we ask that if your child has nail varnish applied, it is removed before school on Monday morning.

Additionally, the school uniform policy on footwear is black shoes. We have a small number of children who attend in trainers, boots etc. Please ensure your child wears black shoes to school.

Thank you, as always, for your support in this matter.

Spring Term Learning Journeys

At Sherburn Hungate Primary School, we plan our learning through what is known as a Learning Journey. This typically starts with a 'big bang' event (something to spark imagination and enthusiasm for the topics covered) and ends with a 'showcase' (a celebration of the children's work to an audience).
