We ask that parents and students direct their technical support requests to hvmtechsupport@rcps.us. This email account is intended to serve our students who are either online only or off campus when the request is sent. Students attending school should notify their teachers of any technical issues so that we may resolve those problems at school.

ATHLETICS

Season 2 Sports (Fall Sports)

The School Board has approved middle schools to begin falls sports on Monday, February 8. Football, volleyball, and cheerleading will begin following the guidance outlined in the "2020-2021 VHSL Guidelines for Return to Participation" document below on that date. At the moment, the plan is for football and volleyball to practice for two weeks, and then competition will begin the week of Monday, February 22. Roanoke County Public Schools will not have any spectators at practices or competitions. While high schools in Roanoke County have received streaming video systems, the demand for those systems across the country has been too great to install them at middle schools. We are currently exploring other streaming options at HVMS, so we will keep everyone posted.

Please see the information below specific to football and volleyball.

Football:

Weather permitting, football will conduct its out-of-season practices on Thursday and Friday of this week following the schedule that was emailed to those students who submitted their interest. Beginning on Monday, February 8, practice will be held Mondays-Fridays from 3:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. on the football field. Students in school on practice days should fill water bottles and then immediately report to the field house once school dismisses. Students who wish to participate must have an up-to-date VHSL physical on file with the front office. Dionte Hall, our head football coach, can be reached at dmh61em@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Volleyball:

Volleyball tryouts will begin on Monday, February 8. Tryouts on Monday will be from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. for any girls who are interested in trying out for the team. An up-to-date VHSL physical must be on file with the front office in order to try out. Aaron King, our new head volleyball coach, can be reached at king4life@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
