Students Become Bucket Fillers
Everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds our good thoughts and feelings. When our buckets are full, we feel happy, and when our buckets are empty, we feel sad. This is the story Sprague teachers share with young children regarding expectations at their school.
At Sprague School…the motto goes:
I will do my best.
I will be honest.
I will show kindness toward others.
I will accept others.
I will cooperate.
I will control my actions and words.
I will act responsibly.
I will be a bucket-filler.
Sprague teachers share with students the simple concept that we become “Bucket Fillers” when we are nice to others. Bucket Fillers fill both ours and others’ buckets. But when we make someone feel bad, we become “Bucket Dippers.”
Our students quickly understand that they can fill buckets when they do and say things that are kind, considerate, caring, and respectful. They also learn that when they are mean, inconsiderate, uncaring, or disrespectful, they dip into buckets and remove those good feelings. Even the youngest of our students understands that actions and words can either fill a bucket or dip into it.
Throughout the school year, staff encourages, reminds, and recognizes everyone’s efforts to be a Bucket Filler at school, at home, and everywhere they go. We challenge all students and staff to fill the buckets of their family members and friends in the community.
Join us in this effort to do something nice for others, without being asked. We are
certain that this will make someone else happy and will make you feel good inside
too!

Student Drop Off & Pick Up Reminder
For the safety of our children please follow the village signs around the schools - no blocking driveways; abide by the no stopping, no standing, no parking signs; and follow residential roadway speed limits of 20 mph.
Drop Off Procedures
For AM kindergarten, first-, and second-grade student drop off is from 7:55 to 8:10 a.m. Drop off is located in the EAST parking lot. Enter the lot from Reliance Lane. Pull forward to the drop off lane. Staff will be wearing bright-colored vests and will hand signal you when to pull up in line. When you arrive at the drop-off line, put your car into park, a staff member will open the door, your child should be able to independently exit the car, and walk to the sidewalk.
Staff members will then hand-signal for you to proceed forward to exit. Please stay in a line, practice patience, and DO NOT PASS other cars. The line will then exit on to Reliance Lane. Parents of children who are not independent with seat belts, or are in a car seat, will need to park legally and escort your child to the sidewalk.
Dropping Off After 8:10 a.m.?
If you drop your student off at school after 8:10 a.m. please park your vehicle in a permitted parking spot on the street, or on the east or south side of the building and walk your child to the office. There is no supervision for students after 8:10 a.m. and we rely on parents to bring their students to the office for late check in.
Pick Up Procedures
Parents should pick up students in the Pick Up Drop Off lane beginning at 2:35 p.m. Parents should enter Sprague’s East parking lot from Reliance Lane and pull up to the pick up area. Staff will be wearing brightly colored vests. Have your child’s name, grade, and teacher written on a piece of paper on the passenger side window so staff can easily identify who is being picked up.
Dismissal will start at 2:35 p.m. We ask that students who have siblings, stand in line with their siblings so that they can be loaded into their cars together. Please put your car in park. A staff member will open the door and load your child(ren) into the car. Staff members will then hand-signal for you to proceed forward to exit.
We're Almost There!
Sprague needs 5 parents to fill out the Illinois 5Essentials Survey so we have access to their feedback regarding school climate and learning conditions in District 103 through the state-administered, Illinois 5Essentials Survey. We need 20 percent of our parents to take the survey in order to see the results. The chart shows how many Sprague parents have taken the survey to date.
The 5Essentials survey is a great way for D103 parents to provide input into the five indicators from the survey that affect and predict school success:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Date Change for Talent Show
The Sprague Talent Show has been moved to Saturday, April 2, due to a scheduling conflict with a prior date. The Music Appreciation Committee of the PTO is organizing the event where students will perform between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
