Big picture

Glows and Grows

Glows: Thank you for jumping right back into the work last week. I didn't see any "gentle beginnings" but instead everyone hit the ground running. It is noticed and appreciated. Many thanks to Ms. Ellsworth for hitting the ground running with our K-1 interventions. The students are clearly excited to work with!



Grows: Have you set updated goals with your students? Have you carved out some time to revisit older goals as we approach MAP testing season? Also, I am asking you to review school-wide expectations for all common spaces with your students! Based on some of their behavior last week, I believe they could all benefit from a refresher on safe, responsible, and respectful behavior! Thanks much!

MAP Testing

Last week, Shelley Ghannam with Assessment Operations sent an email to all certificated staff. Please be sure to read that closely. Our MAP Winter Test Administration takes place February 3-February 20. Please note the special areas related to accommodations and to the exact assessment names. We are aiming for 100% participation.

ELPAC

Thank you to all of those that signed up to help with the ELPAC that is coming up. This assessment is of vital importance to our EL students and our entire school community. Your commitment is appreciated. Jennifer Baker sent out a pretty specific follow-up email about what is required. Reach out to her with any questions!

FSUSD Runs This #2

The second run event for our school District is coming up on February 1st. The FREE event includes a one mile run/walk and a 5k distance. Sign-ups are available here:

Attendance, Student and Staff/Reminder!

If you are concerned about a student who is missing school, reach out to the family or to Karen and we will work on making a contact with a family to chat through whatever is going on. Sometimes, a postcard or good news referral for a student missing school goes a long way.


Remember, I track school wide attendance here! One of the best things we can do to find success for our students is to celebrate their presence and to make sure we are the ones leading them each day! Thanks for your commitment.

Donors Choose

Many of you put together some awesome "DonorsChoose.org" requests. As a school, your work to gain donations to use for specific projects, supplies, activities, and furniture from the community is appreciated! A few things:


1. Please let me know if you have submitted a Donors Choose project. Send me the link and I will be sure to include it in my parent newsletter and on our Facebook page.


2. If the project includes furniture, it must be approved by our purchasing department. If you send me the specs ahead of time, I have no issue sending it to the appropriate staff for approval.


3. Send me any photos AFTER the arrival of the project and I will also include that in any parent newsletter/FB/IG post.
