Superintendent's Update
November 1, 2021
To the CCPS Community:
Below you will find a video that I recorded this morning that addresses our current COVID data, new updates to our quarantine protocol, and a few pieces of good news from throughout the school system. More information regarding the updates for quarantining can also be found below the video link.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Updates to Quarantining Following Exposure
The following is from the CCPS Safety Protocols. The full document can be found HERE.
General Guidelines for Exposures to a Positive Case
Students:
Students will no longer be quarantined if they have been exposed in school to another student as long as they have been properly wearing their masks.
As long as they continue to be asymptomatic, they may remain in school and wear their mask.
Parents retain the option to keep their student home to quarantine if they choose to do so.
Contact tracing will still occur and families will be notified if their child has been in close contact with a known positive.
Students who have been exposed while home or who have a known positive within their home will need to notify the school and quarantine.
Students who have been exposed to a positive adult while at school will be required to quarantine.
Adults:
Adults who are exposed in school will no longer be required to quarantine as long as they remain asymptomatic and have been properly wearing their masks. They may test between days 5 - 7.
Unvaccinated adults should not report to work if exposed to a known positive outside of work. If they are asymptomatic and test negative between days 5 – 7, they may return to work on day 8.
*Household exposures are an exception to the basic quarantine guidelines and may require a longer quarantine period.
NOTE: An individual who has been COVID positive within the last 90 days will not need to quarantine.
