Pre K News
One tool from our Solution Kit is share. We are learning that we can have fun with others when we share materials. We have been sharing the balls outside and sharing materials during Active Learning .
Last week we showcased some pictures of our Daily Sign In. This week we want to showcase our Greeting during Morning Meeting. Greeting everyone each day builds community, we learn each other’s names and often includes a fun song or repetitive phrase to build oral language and literacy skills.
PBIS Awards Assembly
At Galtier, we follow the PBIS approach which teaches students positive behavior strategies , just as we would teach about any other subject — like reading or math. As we use PBIS, all students learn about positive behavior.
PBIS recognizes that students can only meet behavior expectations if they know what the expectations are. Everyone learns what’s considered appropriate behavior. And they use a common language to talk about it. Throughout the school day — in class, at lunch, and on the bus — students understand what’s expected of them.
According to research, PBIS leads to better student behavior. In many schools that use PBIS, students get fewer detentions and suspensions. They also earn better grades. There’s also some evidence that PBIS may lead to less bullying.
One AWESOME PBIS tradition is the monthly award ceremonies where we celebrate students' successes as Mountain Climbers, Student of the Month and the student who shows the monthly character trait (this month is Responsibility)
We hope that you are able to attend our next assembly on Thursday, October 28 at 10:00AM on Google Meet.
