Health Tip of the Week
As many families prepare for the Halloween festivities, remember some safety tips to keep you and your family healthy:
Make sure all costumes, wigs and accessories are fire-resistant.
If children are out after dark, have some reflective tape on their costumes and bags or give them glow sticks.
Inspect all candy before allowing eating. Open or damaged candies should be thrown away.
Be sure to remove any Halloween makeup before going to bed to prevent skin and eye irritation.
If you do not participate in Halloween, be sure to keep your front lights off to let people know you are not offering goodies. Always be sure to keep car doors and home entry ways locked.
Pumpkins are popular in October thanks to Halloween traditions and historical crop seasons. Did you know pumpkins are very beneficial for heart ailments and help in reducing cholesterol? These big plants are also used as a cold potency food and helps in soothing and replenishing the body from the inside. This is why cooking pumpkins for heart patients is a best addition to their diet charts. This is something to consider when you're scooping out the insides of that pumpkin to make your Jack-o-lantern. Maybe you can use the filling to create something heart healthy!
