NEWS & NOTES April 28, 2023
Marty's Minute
Thank you to those who came out to the Community Budget and Board Meeting this week. A recording is available of the presentation here, and a copy of the presentation can be read here.
We are not alone when dealing with these types of cuts. Many districts across the State are facing similar challenges due to the loss of ESSER funds, declining enrollment, and the lack of funding for special education.
The proposed solutions to balance our budget will deeply affect the lives of staff members and students. We are working hard to minimize the impact across all teams, and we wish we had better news.
These reductions will be hard to process, and we will get through this. Thank you for working with us while we navigate these challenging times together.
You are invited to attend PAHS' Annual Plant Sale on May 20th!
April is Autism Awareness Month
Check out our fantastic Transitional Kindergarten staff and students showing off their appreciation for our friends and family with autism!
The Return of JFFA Kids Day Concert!
Last year, Maiah performed virtually for our secondary students, and we are excited to bring her back in person this year for all students to enjoy!

Please contact your building principal if you have any questions about this event! We look forward to celebrating Kids Day with you on Friday, May 26th! Enjoy!
Maiah Wynn
An award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Maiah Wynne delivers powerful and universally resonant lyrics with a hauntingly beautiful voice. Maiah’s current project is "Envy of None" with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alex Lifeson of Rush, Juno Award winner Andy Curran and accomplished recording engineer/musician Alfio Annibalini. Their full album came out April 8th with Kscope Records and immediately charted in Canada, the US and the UK. Maiah identifies as queer and has a passion for social justice which drives much of her work. She often writes songs about underrepresented perspectives, facilitating healing, drawing much needed attention to critical issues, and raising funds for positive change. Maiah has donated time and funding to organizations including the Arts Fund Seattle, Black Resilience Fund, First Aid Arts, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA, the Misool Foundation, NAACP, UNCUT Youth Programs, and WaterWatch. “What made us fall for her even more was her drive to use her talents to make a difference.” (30A Magazine).
