Global Education Resources

From the desk of Jackie

Check out these great ideas to celebrate Heritage.

Celebrate HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place each year from September 15th-October 15th. Throughout this time we acknowledge the valuable contributions made, and the important presence and impact of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States, and celebrate their heritage and culture.

Study Abroad Information Session

  • Location: High Point Central High School- Media Center
  • Date: Tuesday, September 29, 6pm to 8pm

This first Study Abroad Information Session of the school year will focus on two important scholarships available for our students:

  • CIEE Global Navigator Scholarship: Our district was selected last year as a recipient of this scholarship. Two of our schools, High Point Central and Northwest High can apply to receive $20,000 but a similar amount is available for scholarships at large, to which all our high school students can apply to. Last year 26 of our kids travelled to 10 different countries, receiving a total of $73,785. We can make it happen again!!! Deadline: December 10
  • NSLI-Y: The National Security Language Initiative for Youth program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs. Deadline: October 29 at 4pm

Counselors, parents and students can contact me with any related questions.
