Fall 2016
New! Flipster Digital Magazines
We are excited to add Flipster Digital Magazines to our library resources. Teachers and students can access these periodicals from devices in the classroom or library at school or from home. With access to two years of back issues that are searchable, teachers can display articles on the Promethean Board to share curriculum content, explore the magazine format, or to study graphic and nonfiction text features.
Ranger Rick
Published by the National Wildlife Federation, Ranger Rick offers beautiful photographs and exciting articles about wildlife and nature.
Cobble-stone
Bring history to life with fascinating stories about how Americans live, work, eat and play from the 1600s until today from Cricket Media.
Sports Illustrated for Kids
This kid-friendly resource on sports inlcudes action photography, player profiles, instructional tips and interviews with athletes.
Library Lessons
Building a Better Batmobile
These students built a LEGO batmobile and are going to the beach!
Going Places
Second grade students read "Going Places" by Peter and Paul Reynolds and used Lego kits to build a vehicle of their own design.
Shopping with a Car-Plane
These students are flying and driving their LEGO car-plane to Wal-Mart!
Character Traits
Fifth grade students identified character traits of a boy who overcame crippling adversity to build a windmill bringing electricity and water to his drought-ravaged village in Malawi.
Battle of the Books
Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to try out for the EWE Battle of the Books team. Permission slips and bookmarks with the ten titles selected for this year's competition are available in the library with more information on the media center website.
Wants vs. Needs
First grade students read "Every Cowgirl Needs a Horse" and distinguished between wants and needs in a Promethean Board activity.
Fall Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you for supporting the EWE Scholastic Book Fair! Our bronze medal summer readers earned a gift certificate to the book fair and we purchased a great selection of new books for the library. Happy Reading!
The Science of Sports
These new graphic novels explore the science behind the sports of football, basketball and baseball.
I Survived
These popular historical fiction titles explore important events in history such as the Battle of Gettsburg, the Hindenburg disaster and the sinking of the Titanic.
Car Crazy
Readers will learn about each vehicle’s conception, development, and manufacturing through engaging text and full-color photographs.
