A message from Scott Feder regarding Viral-Related illnesses

We are seeing an increase in viral-related illnesses in the past few weeks. Please keep your child home with a fever over 100.2. Children must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication in use in order to return to school. If your child has vomiting or diarrhea, we ask you to keep them home for 24 hours from the last episode.

We are trying to mitigate the spread of illness in South Brunswick, and we ask if your child is not feeling well that you keep them home. If you feel they need to be dosed with Tylenol or Motrin prior to coming to school, they should probably stay home for the day to be observed by you.

Mitigation strategies can include frequent hand washing, not sharing foods/snacks, and/or wearing a mask. Also, check with your pediatrician about them receiving an influenza vaccine. Health Care providers are expecting a bigger-than-normal flu season this year and it is also beginning earlier. Wearing a mask and good handwashing can diminish the risk of transmission of viruses.

Together we can stay healthy and safe in our community so our children may continue to stay in school and learn!

If you have any questions, please call your School Nurse.

Thank you,

Scott
