Week 28 Recap
Last Week of 3rd Quarter
We had an amazing "Read Across America" Week with dozens of guest readers in our classrooms and students taking time to DEAR (Drop Everything And Read). Thanks to our parent/family volunteers who came to campus this week by reading and supporting literacy for all our Vipers.
In addition to Read Across America Week, we also launched our APEX X-Factor leadership program and fundraiser. You have probably heard a lot about Robo Rob, Showtime Shane, and T-Rex Tori who are on campus all week with our X-Factor Program. They will be back at SV all next week with our Obstacle run on Thursday and our middle school Color Games on Friday. We have a weekend challenge for Apex that can be accessed at the Apex Event homepage. Robo Rob announced our Weekend Share Challenge with a Donut Party on the line next week.
Our K-6 students will participate in their APEX Obstacle Run next Thursday, All K-6 students will receive an APEX Orange Jersey to wear at the run on Thursday morning in homeroom. We welcome parents to come and attend during thier allotted time. All are welcome to come out to the field and cheer on our Vipers. Mindful Monday
Silent Walking Exercise
At some point this week, take 10 minutes or longer to walk silently. You can do this indoors or outdoors. Remain silent throughout the entire walk so you can hear what your mind is producing.
As your attention is drawn to particular objects or sounds in your environment, to your thoughts and feelings, to sensations in your body, call them out by saying them three times. For example, when a car passes by, say to yourself, "car, car, car." If you start to feel stress in your body, say "stress" three times.
Notice what happens when you do this. Continue to label everything and repeat as you notice.
