Reading
This week we completed our non-fiction novel, Freedom Walkers. Students worked in small groups discussing what it would be like to live in the South during the time of the Montgomery bus boycott. They expressed what they thought about the speeches that were given by Martin Luther King Jr. and learned of others who were very influential during those turbulent times.

Social Studies
We have been learning about the various cultural exchanges that have taken place within our country, Canada, and between the two countries. We will soon be learning about each individual province and territory in Canada and how they compare to our states.

Safety and Security
Our staff has been in many ongoing conversations regarding the safety and security of the building. One area that we will be tightening up is the front entry at the end of the day. To help ensure the safety of the our students, these doors will not open up for parents until 3:00 pm. If you need your child prior to the 3:10 dismissal, you can still get buzzed into the school and report to the office. We will call your student down and he/she can be signed out to you. We will implement this change starting after spring break. Remember, this is being done with your child's safety in mind.
