Student Census Coming Soon!
In the Limestone District School Board, we are committed to equity, inclusion and ensuring everyone feels a strong sense of belonging – that everyone can see themselves in Limestone. To help us achieve this, we are undertaking two important projects over the next few years – a student census and a workforce census.
We are beginning with a census of students in Grades 4 to 12 later this spring. By learning more about our students – their backgrounds, experiences and needs – we can identify where systemic barriers exist, and determine how to eliminate discriminatory biases in our classes and schools as outlined in the Ontario Education Equity Action Plan.
To help prepare for the census and better understand how it will inform our work supporting students’ achievement and well-being, we’re going to share small tidbits of information with you weekly.
Today, we invite you to visit our dedicated web page to watch a short public service announcement and review some frequently asked questions. As the weeks progress, leading up to the survey, we will share more details including survey questions, how educators might introduce these topics to students to ensuring informed answers, and how the data will be used going forward.
Online payments coming soon!
Our school is one of several schools to launch a new secure online portal that will allow families to complete payments and permission forms online. Parents and guardians will be invited via email to view their student’s school-related events such as field trips, sporting events or activities such as hot lunch and yearbook purchases. Parents/guardians will then be asked to complete the required permissions (if applicable) and complete payment via credit card or electronic funds transfer from their bank account.
Instructions on how to register for this new system will be shared once the system goes live in March. This new portal will remove the risks associated with sending money to school with students, the frustration of lost or missing permission forms, and significantly reduce the amount of paper our school consumes.
We look forward to sharing more information with you soon
