Week of October 21--Student Led Conferences

October 25--No School

Language Arts

On Friday we took a quiz over chapters 1-3 of To Kill a Mockingbird. It is important that students keep up with readings to be successful with the text. We will examine the character motivations and actions through a group project in the upcoming week. We will also read chapters 4-6. Please don't hesitate to discuss the book with your student at home.

U.S. History

This week in U.S. History we finished our exploration of the 3 branches of government and the seperation of powers. We completed a debate over which branch of government is the most important as well as competed to answer higher level questions in our Cutthroat History competition.

As we have finished our American government unit, we will move on to the first few years of our young republic. Studying important creators of our country such as George Washington Thomas Jefferson Sacagawea, and Lewis and Clark.

We just finished discussing proportional relationships and constant of proportionality / unit rate. In this coming week, we will expand our work to nonproportional linear relationships.

The tentative schedule for this coming week is:

Monday--Slope introduction

Tuesday--Finding slope from graphs

Wednesday--Finding slope from two points & tables

Thursday--Finding slope from two points & tables

Friday--No School

If you have any questionss or concerns about math class, please email me at shannonjones@usd475.org.

This week we started the new unit and new INB. I am requiring the students to obtain a signature on each page as part of their grade by the end of the week. For example, we had 7 pages of work this week, so they should have 7 signatures. The grade is already in skyward. If they are missing signatures, it will be reflected as such. If they did not have a notebook, they received a "missing grade" and will lose points until it is turned in.

Next week we start Earth's Structure!
