It was so fun being a part of such a spirited and interactive Passover seder! I hope you all enjoyed the skit and discussion questions! Now that Spring is here, not only is the pollen, but a reminder that we are nearing the end of the year. :( I want to wish you all a wonderful Chag Sameach and a safe spring break if you are traveling! I can't wait to hear about your adventures when we return!! Shabbat Shalom!!

What Did We Learn This Week?

Language Arts

We have now all finished the final draft of the present life of our autobiographies!! I am so proud of how hard the kids worked on their writing and can't wait to share it with you soon! We also did a big verb review this week and took a test. The story we read was called Too Many Tamales. The skill we worked on was story mapping: characters, setting, important events, the problem and ending from the story. Also, we learned cursive letter f. Our centers were full of fun Passover games and activities!!

Math

This week we introduced Geometry. We learned about solid shapes. Those are 3D and have faces, vertices, and edges. Some examples are cylinders, pyramids, cubes, and prisms. Then, we learned about plane shapes. They have corners and sides. Some examples are triangles, rectangles, octagons, and squares. Next week, we will review. Then, we will culminate with a Geometric snack day on Tuesday! Please send in your treat by Tuesday morning! Also, enjoy no math homework next week!! :)

Hebrew

Dear 2nd grade parents,

חֲרֹוסֶת- clay-like mixture (CHAROSET)

כַּרְפַּס- parsley (KARPAS)

ביצה- hard-boiled egg (BEYTZAH)

Shabbat shalomשַבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Social Studies

We finished our study and review of Unit 3 this week. The students who attended the tutorial had fun with our Kahoot! I am so proud of how well the students did on the test!! Next week, we will be focusing on Passover and after Spring Break, we will switch gears and move onto Science!!
