Westview Summer Updates II

August 17, 2021

Wildcat Families,

We are growing more excited as we approach the start of the 2021-22 school year. As we make plans for the year, we will intentionally dedicate time to rebuild and reestablish community and connections at Westview. The past 18 months provided an opportunity for us to look into our educational practices and ensure we bring back the best for our students. We acknowledge the academic, social, and personal learning that took place during the past year. We are also aware that most of our students have not had a full year of in-person learning at Westview. We will communicate all developing guidelines with our families and work to provide the safest return to school possible. We look forward to the return of our students and the energy they bring to Westview.

It's going to be a great year to be a Wildcat!

Matt Pedersen

If You Can't Make Wildcat Day

We understand not all of our students and families are available for Wildcat Day. We have another picture day planned during the first week of school, on September 10. We will work with all of our students during the first week to ensure they have what they need. Feel free to call the school with any needs or questions at 503-356-3020. Also, we are providing school tours for 10th, and all students new to Westview on September 7. Tours for 9th grade students are September 8, the first day of classes for 9th graders.

Creating Wellness at Westview - Fundraiser

Anxiety and stress manifest in many ways and can disrupt students’ learning. We want to teach students how to self-regulate their emotions in healthy ways and re-engage in their learning. A dedicated space like the Westview Den (Wellness Center) would make this all possible!

Student Parking Questions

We will begin selling parking spaces to 12th graders during the week of Sept 13-17 and remaining spots to 11th graders the following week. Assigned parking will not begin until the 27th of September.

Parent Square Communication

The Beaverton School District is now using the ParentSquare platform for district, school and teacher communications, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent/guardian, using their preferred email address and phone number.

PTO Leaders and Members Wanted!

Thank you to those who have already responded! We are planning to schedule a PTO "Welcome Back" virtual event on Thursday, September 2 at 7pm. More info will be sent out soon.

Calling all parent volunteers and leaders. Have you been looking for a way to get involved in your student's school? Did you serve on your middle school's PTO and were hoping to continue that work in high school? Westview is in need of new Parent Teacher Organization leadership. Our past president, Sadie, has served for many years and her students have graduated. With the return from hybrid instruction and online learning and school as we traditionally have known it, now is a prime time to help Westview continue to support the Westview Community! We specifically need a president and vice president, but welcome any and all involvement.

Please fill out this form if you are interested in any of our open positions, or if you are interested in supporting our PTO this coming year.
