Phalen Flyer
PLA@George H. Fisher School 93
Greetings PLA Families,
Another wild week of Indiana weather! We have much to celebrate this week.
Our third grade scholars completed their IREAD assessment today. I want to thank our teachers and scholars for their hard work!
It was great to see many parents in the building on Wednesday for our spring conferences. Thank you for your partnership and working together to help your scholar.
There are some items listed below that were also in last week's flyer. Due dates are rapidly approaching.
Just a reminder that we "spring forward" this weekend. Be sure to move your clocks one hour forward.
The spring Panorama Survey link has been placed below for your convenience. We welcome your feedback and encourage you to take a few minutes to complete this and let us know how we are doing. https://surveys.panoramaed.com/indianapolis/xfisher22/surveys. We use the feedback from this survey to guide us in setting goals to improve our school.
There are two very important deadlines approaching. Summer Advantage, Phalen Leadership Academy's premiere summer program, is currently taking applications. The deadline to enroll and receive transportation is Friday, March 18th. More information can be found below.
PLA@93 will have a yearbook available this year. The deadline to order a yearbook for your scholar is also Friday, March 18th. Additional information can be found below in the flyer.
Sixth Grade Parent Reminder: All sixth graders received an enrollment packet for JRPLA, Phalen's Middle/High School. As a Phalen scholar, they will receive priority by enrolling early. I encourage you to take advantage of early enrollment, even if you are undecided about where they will attend, and reserve your scholar's place next year. Classes will fill up quickly once opened to the public.
I have kept the parent resources for the upcoming IREAD assessment in our newsletter. This assessment will take place from March 7th-18th. Please take a moment to review this information.
Our Family Resource Spotlight this week provides assistance for youth sports registration fees. Read more about Every Kid Sports below!
Check out the rest of the flyer below for more important information.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hendricks
PLA@93 Teacher & Support Staff of the Month
Congratulations to Mrs. Brown, teacher of the month, and Mr. Edmonds (AKA Mr. D) support staff of the month. Thank you for all you do for our scholars. You are making a difference!
Family Resource Spotlight
The Every Kid Sports Pass is a youth sports grant that will pay up to $150 towards youth sports registration fees. In order to apply for a child between the ages of 4-18, families must submit proof the child is currently receiving Medicaid, SNAP or WIC benefits. Upon approval, families will be issued a digital VISA debit card.
IREAD Parent Resources
The Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE’s) Office of Student Assessment prepared an IREAD-3 Parent Guidance resource that schools may share with parents of students who will participate in IREAD-3 this spring. English and Spanish versions of this resource are available for download from the IREAD-3 webpage.
