The Amazing Shake
The Amazing Shake emphasizes the development of soft skills, such as communication, manners, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. Students participate in a series of real-world scenarios, including mock job interviews, public speaking, networking, and various challenges that test their social and emotional intelligence. The aim is to help students build the confidence and skills necessary to excel not only in academics but also in their future careers and personal lives. We are seeking business sponsors to come participate in the event! Learn more about the Amazing Shake below.
The Picture Project:
We are wanting to highlight our students throughout the school! If you have unused picture frames laying around that you want to donate, please bring them by the school anytime! We will use these frames to hang photos of our students throughout our hallways and meeting areas.
The first Attendance Surprise Day is coming soon! If you have any sponges, a kiddy pool, water balls (for the pool), etc. that you would like to bring to the school for the first surprise day, please contact Mr. Cruthis! Carl.Cruthis@onslow.k12.nc.us

The Amazing Shake
In the corporate world, soft skills are increasingly recognized as critical for success. While technical expertise is important, soft skills like effective communication, empathy, leadership, and adaptability play a significant role in one's professional advancement. Here's why soft skills are crucial in the corporate world:
Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with colleagues, clients, and superiors. Effective communication promotes teamwork and prevents misunderstandings.
Leadership: Leadership is not just about directing tasks but also about inspiring and motivating others. Effective leadership hinges on soft skills like empathy, persuasion, and conflict resolution.
Problem-solving: Soft skills such as critical thinking and creativity are invaluable in identifying and addressing challenges in the workplace. They allow individuals to adapt to changing situations and come up with innovative solutions.
Adaptability: In today's fast-paced business environment, adaptability and resilience are key. Soft skills help individuals navigate change, handle stress, and remain flexible in the face of uncertainty.
Customer Service: For many industries, customer service is vital. Empathy, active listening, and effective interpersonal skills are essential when dealing with clients and customers.
Networking: Building and maintaining professional relationships is vital for career growth. Soft skills enable individuals to connect with others, form meaningful relationships, and create opportunities.
The Amazing Shake highlights the importance of these soft skills from a young age, emphasizing their relevance not only in education but also in the broader context of life and the corporate world. It serves as a reminder that academic knowledge alone is not sufficient; individuals need a strong foundation in soft skills to thrive in their careers and make a positive impact on the world.
The District has also placed signs on every campus, we can no longer allow parents and guardians to begin lining up for Car Pick up earlier than 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Thank you for understanding how this will keep our students at Blue Creek Elementary School safer while on campus!
Morning Drop Off
Cars will enter the parking lot through the center driveway. Once you enter the driveway, you will make an immediate right and follow the driveway behind the last row of parked cars along the fence (parallel to the road). At the end of the row, you will make a 180-degree left and follow the driveway between the rows of parked cars. At the end of the row, you will now make a 180-degree right turn and pull up the first available open cone (there will be 4 cones). Students MUST exit the vehicle on the driver side. Due to safety concerns, we do not want children exiting on the passenger side of the vehicle. Once your child(ren) exit the vehicle, you will exit the parking lot through the driveway next to the tree line.
Please make sure once you enter the driveway, you turn right. The area and driveway to the left will be used for bus arrivals and dismissals for the 2023-24 school year.
Car riders are dismissed at 3:30 and will dismiss in the same line as morning drop-off.
Buses typically leave campus by 3:40
For all grades, please make sure your car tag is visible and plan for students to enter the vehicle on the passenger side. This really does speed up the car line! If your child will routinely be a car rider you can fill out the car tag request form below and we will have the tag ready for you to pick up from your teacher at orientation. Please fill out the form for each child. The tag will be given to the teacher of your oldest student.
Please be patient the first few days!
*Early checkouts are not permitted after 3:00 pm at anytime throughout the year. At this time students are preparing for dismissal. Any transportation changes must be submitted no later than 2:30 each day.
