The Stratford Chefs School offers an enriched two-year post-secondary program for student chefs. The school year runs for 16 weeks from mid-October to the end of February. Practical courses are taught by industry professionals; other courses are taught by experts in related fields.
Job Description: A four-month part-time contract position to instruct a first-year course in front-of-house service, and to supervise both first and second year students in FOH positions in the school restaurant. The service course introduces the basic principles, philosophies and values of service theory and practice in the hospitality industry. The course is given to small groups of approximately 12-15 students, each group meeting once per week, over a sixteen-week period beginning in October. In the school restaurant, students take on all service roles in the dining room (maître d’, sommelier, host, servers, etc.) The instructor must supervise and direct them to ensure they learn and that the service provided to our patrons is top quality.

Job Description:
The Stratford Chefs School is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual for a contract position, to teach a course in Restaurant Design to approximately twenty-six second year students. The course meets once a week for 1.5 hours, over a sixteen-week period beginning in October. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of course materials and evaluation of assignments.
The Stratford Chefs School offers an enriched two-year post-secondary program for apprentice chefs. Built on a uniquely entrepreneurial model, the school’s aim is to graduate future chefs with the skills and knowledge to open and run their own restaurants. Each school year consists of two eight-week semesters, beginning in October and January. Cookery courses are taught by practicing chefs; academic courses are taught by experts in related fields.
Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess interior design or architectural education and work experience related to the restaurant environment, including:

We are seeking 4-6 Chefs to compete in our Cooking Competitions and assist our two headliner Chefs. Saturday September 10th 9:30am - Garlic Chef Competition. This is a black box style competition where two chefs (along with their two sous-chefs) create a three course meal in one hour. Generally two restaurants are represented in this competition, however it is not a requirement to be representing a restaurant. You will be required to use garlic in your recipes along with a secret ingredient which will be revealed at the beginning of the competition. The winner will receive a trophy and the title of Garlic Chef Champion. 11:30am - Chef Massimo Carpa will be giving a live cooking demonstration. He has requested a food stylist to assist him. We have also requested samples to be made to be able to pass out to audience members. A phone call will be arranged in advance between you and Chef Massimo to discuss the requirements of this position. Food samples may need to be prepared in advance. We will have someone available to help assist you in doing so. Sunday September 11th 10:30am - Celebrity Chef Cooking Competition. Two chef school students (or graduates) will be paired with two local celebrities to create an appetizer using garlic and a secret ingredient. 1:30pm - Laura Calder will be giving a live cooking demonstration. She has asked for an assistant. Some prior food prep for samples may be needed. The competitions are meant to be in fun. Eddie Matthews from the radio station and Ryan O'Donnell from Mercer Hall (Ryan may only be available on the Sunday) generally MC the events and help to keep it fun, exciting and keep the flow of the event. Passion for food required! The right candidate would be detail-oriented, multi-tasking, creative, self-starting and growth-focused. Tree House Kitchen is a beautiful teaching kitchen located in Greensville (Dundas) in the greater Hamilton area of Ontario in a house with a real tree growing in the middle of it! Events and consultations are held on-site and off-site. Chef Nancy Henley teaches ages 9-90 about food literacy, whole foods and empowerment through culinary life skills. This is a learning and growing environment. Cooking School for the Community At Large and Skype Cooking Coaching/Consultation Practice: Experienced Cook/Kitchen Assistant Needed for All Aspects of Kitchen Preparation Prior cooking experience is required. Key Tasks • Food preparation for cooking classes, consultations and media appearances: I am a small apprenticeship training facility. I am accepting applications from dynamic second or third year apprentices or experienced cooks. Strong knife skills. Operate safely, maintaining sanitary working conditions. Managing food inventory for freshness/organization and turnover. Role includes private chef duties. (Food Handler Certificate would be an asset – but willing to train.) • Supporting Chef in teaching role, including food preparation and plating during class. • Hospitable interaction with students/clients within a learning environment including service duties such as serving plated food, filling water glasses, clearing plates. Professional front-of-house demeanor for open kitchen environment is required. • Clean-up and set-up prior to and after the class/events including table-setting, polishing, organizing fridges, kitchen cleaning and any additional duties. • Recipe testing: Cooking skills and critical thinking skills required to interpret and test recipes. Data entry and writing skills for forms, recipe booklets and recipe writing. Comfort with word processing, spreadsheet software and pdfs required. • Social media and digital content creation experience would be an asset: growing social media following, creating unique quality content consistent with company values and philosophy, responding to social media inquiries and contact. Photography and photo-editing skills would be a bonus. • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Chef • Self-starter, able to work independently on assigned tasks while in communication with Chef. • Strong communication skills: Communicating with Chef and colleagues regarding role and responsibilities, interacting with clients in a hospitable manner. • This role offers a good work-life balance (mostly daytime hours) though hours are variable depending on client demands. • As this is a home-based business, employees required to participate in an online backcheck • Drivers license would be an asset due to remote location, This location is off major bus routes.
