Principal's Message: Dream Big Bonsall West and ride with pride!
Hello parents!
This week was a wonderful one fillled with Thanksgiving projects such as camoflauge turkeys, Thanksgiving parade floats and our Jogathon. We also had a fantastic water assembly on Tuesday. Our students learned to conserve water in a fun format. Thank you for the Water Authority! We hope you will enjoy next week off with your children for Thanksgiving. We will miss your children.
Thank you to all who have been supporting our Jogathon fundraising efforts! It is not too late to register and raise much needed funds for our school.
Our next STREAM lab will be a sewing lab( see attached flyer). We are in need of sewers/sewing machines. This is a valuable opportunity for our students. Thank you in advance for your support!
Our music teacher, Mrs. Pellkofer is excited to be the music educator for grades Tk through 4th at Bonsall West. She wanted to share out about our upcoming holiday performances. We have two performances in December in the multipurpose room on campus. Our first performance, Wednesday, December 7 at 8:45 in the morning is for all Bonsall West students. Our second concert for families and friends is the afternoon of Thursday, December 8 at 1:45. I hope that you are able to make time in your very busy holiday schedules to join us for this first concert. The students look forward to singing, dancing and drumming for you.
On Saturday, December 3rd, our 4-6th grade students will have the opportunity to perform and walk in the Fallbrook Christmas parade. Please fill out a permission slip if your child is able to attend.
Our PTA winter festival is coming soon! On Friday, December 9th, from 4-5, all grade levels will be performing in the MPR. Afterwards, from 5-7, there will be crafts, cocoa and cookie decorating. Lastly, we will end the evening with snow! Hope you can come to this fun, free event.

Academics/Character
Our November focus is Habit 3: Put first things first. In simpler terms, we work hard first and play harder, later! During this month's lesson, students will be learning about setting priorities and staying true to them-- even if something smaller looks more appealing at the time.
November is also College and Career readiness month!
Our end in mind is to help our students and families understand more about exploring our own talents/interests, what careers are out there and how school can help us achieve our career goals-- whether or not those dreams require a college education.
We will also be learning about A-G classes and 3&7 year plans that can help us with putting first things first when it comes to thinking about our future goals.

At Bonsall West Elementary School we are focusing on the Leader in Me to build lifelong leadership skills. We want our students to focus on the 7 habits: 1. feel empowered to be proactive and be in charge of themselves,2. set goals and begin with the end in mind,3. focus on work first then play with put first things first, 4. have an abundance mindset and think win win, 5. listen to our peers and seek first to understand , then be understood, 6.work collaboratively and synergize and 7. have school work/life balance and sharpen the saw. We have attached a couple of resource that explains the paradigm shifts that we focus on as well as the habits we focus on.
