Betty Friedan sparkes the movement. She was an author that conducted a survey. She wanted to dispute the popular notion that higher education was harmful to women. Many women from the survey found there life's unfilling.
NOW
National Organzation for Women, it's a women rights group that claims a thousand memebers in its first year. It tried to influence elected officials to insure social and economic equality for women.

EQUAL RIGHTS for WOMEN
Kennedy Responds
Kennedy's administration backed a new bill that would make it illegal for employers to pay women less then men for the same job. Congress signed the Equal Pay Act. It served as an important first step towards equality in the work place.
