1984 Reflection
Williams Rizo
What makes this book significant?
"Don't you see the whole aim of Newspeak is to limit the range of thought?...the whole climate of thought will be different in fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. " (52-52) - Book 1 Ch. 5. Examples of this can be viewed in our everyday lives, in one example text messages shorten words to communicate faster (LOL, OMW). Our everyday society also shows representation of this dystopian world. Kids using phone and other technology which limits their social interaction making them more "robotic". Kids today are most likely seen with and iPhone, iPod, or android; rather than a book which will limit their vocabulary and brings them closer to a dystopian society.
