HIGHLIGHTS OF DUCK N HOVER CHALLENGE
This past Saturday, fourteen 8th graders from FBMS traveled to the Museum of Science to participate in the museum’s annual Engineering Challenge. This event, called the Duck n’ Hover, challenges students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The task for the day was to create a wind driven device that can raise a payload of rubber ducks two stories! The students were assigned to teams and given 3 hours to design, create, test, redesign, and retest their creations. Following a lunch break, student teams competed against each other to determine which team’s design could lift the greatest number of ducks. The winning team was able to lift 153 ducks successfully! One of our student’s teams did tie for second place, successfully raising 99 ducks. Overall, the students had a great day, an amazing experience, and came away with great stories and a very cool t-shirt. We look forward to fielding a team again next year. Thanks to all the students who participated and to their parents who transported them to the museum. QUACK!

A PRESENTATION ON VAPING
Brooke Morgan (@CaronTreatment) presented to 7th graders today to educate them on the facts and dangers of juuling-vaping. Electronic cigarettes/Vapes has morphed into a craze with youth primarily because the juul “juice” comes in flavors that appeal to youth. It is important to reinforce the importance of making good choices to maintain healthy living. Thank you to our PTO for bringing this event to FBMS to promote awareness.
