CREDIT RECOVERY & ACCELERATION FOR WHS

Odysseyware -- Online Course Acceleration Program

Student cost is $125 per semester. If a parent requests Odysseyware, the campus will send parents to the WISD Curriculum & Instruction office, where coordinators will add students to a course if needed. Students must have Odysseyware course work completed by August 1, 2017.

Summer School & Credit Recovery

  • The 8th grade students who failed their math course but passed 8th grade STAAR Math will take Algebra I in 9th grade without attending summer school.

  • The 8th grade students who failed their math course and the 8th grade STAAR Math will attend summer school on June 14 and will do “course (credit) recovery” before the end of 2017.

CELEBRATION WEEK FOR MRS. BROOKS

Our computer lab aide, Mrs. Brooks, is retiring this year after working with the district for 30 years -- 24 years as a computer lab aide, 1 1/2 years as a substitute, and 5 years as a volunteer. Her Tison family loves her, and we want to definitely celebrate her years of dedication to us and our students!

Therefore, we will be having a week-long celebration of Mrs. Brooks from May 15th through May 19th. Each day carries a theme and a way that we can honor Mrs. Brooks and what she means to this campus and district. We would like the students to be involved with this week-long celebration so we ask your help in reminding them of each day's theme.

Pictured below is the daily schedule for Mrs. Brooks' Week of Celebration.

TISON YEARBOOK DELIVERY ON MONDAY, MAY 15TH

On Monday, May 15th, the 2016-17 Tison Yearbooks will be distributed! The 7th grade students will receive their yearbooks during their lunch period, while the 8th grade students will receive their yearbooks when they come back from Fun Day (2:30 to 3:30 PM).

If your student hopes to purchase a yearbook on Monday, there will be a table set up outside the cafeteria selling the extra yearbooks that are left…first come, first serve. A yearbook on site will cost $50 (cash only). Please advise your student to keep his or her money in a safe place until the yearbook sales table opens up on Monday morning.

Students who purchase a yearbook on Monday morning will receive it, along with students who pre-purchased their yearbooks, during the designated grade level distribution.

TISON LIBRARY CELEBRATION BASH

The theme for this year's Tison Library Celebration Bash is "Reading is a SUPERPOWER", and the library is super excited to have extended invitations to nearly 50 Tison students who participated in library programming this year and/or completed the Tison Reading Challenge!

These lucky students will be treated to Chick-Fil-A nuggets, chips, cake, and lemonade in the library on Monday, May 15th (3:45 to 4:30 PM). The students who also completed the necessary challenges from the Tison Reading Challenge will be eligible for free book and prize giveaways!

The library would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the parents of these students for encouraging them to read and to participate in Tison Library events and activities.

SYNC: FREE AUDIOBOOK DOWNLOADS

What is SYNC?

SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens and adults (13 and older) and is sponsored by AudioFile Magazine. Started in 2010, the SYNC program returns for the summer season on April 27th, and will give away two complete audiobook downloads a week - pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes - until the program ends on August 16th. The program is dedicated to introducing the listening experience to the teen audience and demonstrates that required reading can be completed by listening.

How do I Access the Audiobooks?

The weekly downloads are in MP3 format and are compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems. The downloads operate through the OVERDRIVE app, which can be run on must devices. Each SYNC audiobook is available for download for a period of 7 days only. Once the weekly download period for each pair of audiobooks expires, that particular pair is no longer available for download.

Below is a PDF flyer that lists the titles for each week...
