MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH IN THE CARIBBEAN: A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
TO ALL ACURILEANS,
OTHER INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS
AND RESEARCHERS IN THE CARIBBEAN REGION AND ABROAD
Puerto Rico is once again pleased to host the Annual Conference of the Association of Caribbean University, Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL). The 47th Conference will take place at the Condado Plaza Hilton Hotel, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 4-8 June 2017.
Prof. Héctor Rubén Sánchez-Fernández, ACURIL President (2016-2017), invites all Acurileans, other information professionals and researchers in the region and abroad to a very special event entitled Multidisciplinary Research in the Caribbean. The goal is to bring together information professionals, from different types of libraries, archives and museums, and researchers from all knowledge areas, to share research work, their knowledge and expertise and, in so doing, to develop a Caribbean Community of Research Experience and Innovation. This action will allow us to plan ahead, and proactively and collaboratively contribute to the development and sustainability of our region.
On behalf of President Sánchez-Fernández, we are pleased to present the Conference Preliminary Program and the Call for Papers, Workshops and Posters. Your active participation in this event will contribute to bring together the Caribbean research knowledge and expertise in a most unique site.

THE CONFERENCE LOGO
The flamboyant (Delonix regia), called the fire tree mainly for its majestic red flora, although also dressed in pink, yellow and blue, will represent ACURIL 2017 PUERTO RICO. The flamboyant, native to the dry deciduous forest of Madagascar, is found throughout our Caribbean region, bringing us together in brotherhood, inspiring us with their fire and giving us the vital energy,
the passion for study, research and moments of solace.
Along with the flamboyant, the logo includes musical instruments originating from our homeland, representing the cultural environment that permeates us and that will be a significant part in our event.
The logo was designed by Lionel Ortiz-Meléndez, Puerto Rican artist at the History, Anthropology and Art Museum of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.
