Accelerated Math Update

Over 430 students took the placement test in November. At this time, all tests have all been graded. Results are being sent to your school principal. New ALEKS accounts were set up for students to practice Math 7 content. A contest is being planned for students who take part in the ALEKS practice course. Teachers are encouraged to view the top 10 most missed questions along with complete explanations that can be used in class. Visit our webpage for more information at:

http://www.ccsoh.us/Grade6Acceleration.aspx

Students who did not take the benchmark test in November may still take the placement test in March. If you have a student who is interested, we can add them into the Math 7 ALEKS account as well. Please let Steve know.

Number Worlds: We Need Your Input!

Are you a K-8 teacher using Number Worlds, or someone interested in using it? Please fill out a brief survey that we can use so we can let McGraw-Hill know of your needs.

Middle School Math Books in Spanish

Do you have a student who could benefit from a Spanish version of the consumable grade 6, 7, or 8 textbook? If so, let Steve know. We have a number of them available in our office.

Reimagine II - Save the Date

This summer's Reimagine II conference will be held on June 6 and 7. We're still in the early planning stages, but be sure to save the date.

Middle School Math Survey

Many thanks to the 73 folks who participated in the middle school math PD survey. At this time, we are planning the Reimagine II conference, night-time PDs, the content experts PD, and other opportunities. You can view the results here:

ALEKS Course Completion

Do you have a student who has finished an ALEKS course? Please let us know, because we'd like to send out a little gift, an ALEKS Pie Champion water bottle.

As students finish an ALEKS course, teachers can create a new class and enroll students in it. For instance, if a student finishes Math 6, the teacher can create a Math 7 course and enroll that student in it to allow him to get a head start on the new material. The teacher can then either unenroll the student from the original Math 6 class (no progress is lost) or leave the student in both classes.
