Be the Kind of Leader You Would Follow
In difficult times, we look to our leaders for wisdom, guidance, and assurance. As we begin to gear up for STAAR, consider the kind of leadership our teachers need from us:
Wisdom: Be thoroughly informed. Analyze. Research. Be clear about issues, root causes, and effective practices before jumping to action.
Guidance: Provide the time for your teachers to move from problem to solution. Help them move to a more clear, focused plan with concrete next steps and an articulated map for implementation.
Assurance: Taking the time to ensure decisions are based on accurate information and are thoughtfully, strategically planned increases confidence and renews commitment.
Help your staff successfully navigate the challenges ahead and overcome obstacles by giving them the gift of strong leadership.
Weekly Attendance
In an effort to closely track attendance data and trends over time, you will begin receiving a weekly automated email from Skyward. The email will provide a link to your own campus spreadsheet that includes historical attendance data (ADA) and historical percent in attendance (PIA) data. The email will also include current weekly attendance data that you will need to enter into the spreadsheet.
Below is an example of the email you will begin receiving February 5. Please begin entering the weekly data upon receipt of the emails. We will discuss the data and process in upcoming coaching meetings.
Here is a sample email:
Principal Name
________ Elementary School
Your campus Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the current reporting cycle (1/3/18 to 1/26/18) is 430.880
Your campus Percent in Attendance (PIA) for weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the current reporting cycle (1/3/18 to 1/26/18) is 93.32%
Please click the link below to access the Google sheet which has been shared with you, enter the two data points above (ADA and PIA) under CY4 in the yellow highlighted row for 2018 (Cell J2 and K2). Compare this data with the same reporting periods for the last two school years in the red and blue rows of the spreadsheet.

3rd and 4th Grade Mock STAAR Update
Framework for STAAR Success (MAP and Mock STAAR data)
Many of you have been asking how to use the MAP MOY data in combination with the Mock STAAR data to guide our work with students. The MAP data is particularly useful for creating student groups and identifying specific skills to develop. The Intervention Department has created a framework to help align Mock STAAR performance data with the MOY MAP data and allow for targeted instruction and strategic grouping. Laurie Toben and Jen Thomas are happy to assist in the implementation of this framework in any way that best supports the needs of your campuses.
