Peking roasted duck is a famous dish from Beijing, enjoying world fame, and considered as one of China’s national dishes.
Peking duck is savored for its thin and crispy skin. The Sliced Peking duck is often eaten with pancakes, sweet bean sauce, or soy with mashed garlic.
Tourist Attraction
The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty. It served as the home of emperors and their households as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years.
The common English name, "the Forbidden City", is a translation of the Chinese name Zijin Cheng. Zi, refers to the North Star, which in traditional Chinese astrology was the heavenly abode of the Celestial Emperor. The Forbidden City was its earthly counterpart. Jin, or "Forbidden", referred to the fact that no one could enter or leave the palace without the emperor's permission. Many were born, raised and passed away in the palace without ever stepping foot outside.
Festivals
The Double Seventh Festival, also known as qixi jie, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, is a traditional festival of romance.
At night when the sky is dotted with stars, and the Milky Way spanning from the north to the south, on each bank of it is a bright star, which according to legend, represents the Cowherd and Weaver Maid, a beautiful love story passed down from generation to generation. In recent years, youths have celebrated it as Valentine's Day in China
