SVDP School

November 6, 2020 Newsletter

Hello SVDP Community,

November is here!

This week, we welcomed our much taller 7th and 8th grade cohorts back to campus. We also hosted K-4 on both Blue and Gold days. It is nice to hear so many voices in the school again.

Now that we are at 60% capacity, the one issue we have found is that our pick up line had become too crowded and congested. Please see the pick up reminders and time adjustments below.

Thanks to our families for completing the 2nd trimester surveys. We know there were many factors to consider and these decisions were not easy for everyone. For the 2nd trimester, we are pleased to have 87% of our students on campus (for reference, in the 1st semester, we had 83%). We pledge to have the new cohorts posted to your SchoolSpeak class pages no later than Thursday, November 12.

Pick Up Reminders & New Dismissal Times

REMINDERS:

  • Do not approach Green Street from Steiner Street. This is a mandate from MUNI and SFPD. Approaching from at least Fillmore also allows us to see the length of the line, so we can manage the progress. This applies to both pick up and drop off.

  • If you have children at different pick up times, please come at the later time. Your younger child/children will be held either in the classroom or if the group is small enough and weather permitting, they will be on the benches in the courtyard. Either way, they will be supervised and safe.

  • If you walk for pick up, please do not linger on the sidewalk. Please come as close to your child's time as possible and leave when you have your child/children.

  • Please continue to use your visor placards and pull them down before crossing Steiner.

  • If you are picking up for another family, please make your own signage indicating that as well.

  • Your child must enter the car from the curbside.

  • We ask that you do not exit the car yourself.

  • Make sure your child can buckle themselves into their carseats, boosters, or regular seatbelts.

Air Purifiers Installed Throughout SVDP

This week we installed 20 air purifier around SVDP. There are two units per classroom, one in the library and one in the office. These units are one of the health and technology initiatives that will be funded by the Annual Giving Campaign. Next week, we will be kicking off the 2020-2021 Annual Giving Campaign. Everyone benefits from Annual Giving, so we hope that everyone will give at the level that is comfortable for your family.

COVID-19 Testing at Saint Vincent de Paul

NEW APPOINTMENT TIMES HAVE BEEN ADDED!

On December 7th, Saint Vincent de Paul School will host a COVID-19 and antibody pop up test site on campus. Employees, registered school families, and the immediate family members of either group are invited to utilize this service.

This test is not mandatory, but a courtesy service as many people make choices about travel and family interactions between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks With our COVID protocols, students are only allowed to enter and exit campus once per day. Having your child scheduled during class time, would mean they would have to leave for the day; this would be the same policy for a doctor's appointment. We suggest that students be scheduled after their release time.

The test site will be open from 8:30 – 3:30. You must have an appointment, there will be no walk-ins permitted. If you wish to take part in this testing program, click here for an appointment time. Each individual must have their own appointment time.

Necessary forms and additional information are available on SchoolSpeak or follow the link to your appointment confirmation:

  • Patient Test Request Form (must be downloaded, completed, and submitted to nurse at test site)
  • Consent for Venous Puncture (if applicable must be downloaded, completed, and submitted to nurse at test site)
  • HRSA COVID-19 Uninsured Program (if applicable must be downloaded, completed, and submitted to nurse at test site)
  • Notice of Privacy Practice
  • Instructions to access lab results on PMH portal

At your appointment, please bring:

  • A photocopy of the front and back of your medical insurance ID card. They will need one copy for every family member being tested, even if the information is the same. The paperwork stays with the sample, so it cannot be shared.
  • Completed Patient Test Request Form (see above)
  • Completed Consent for Venous Puncture (if applicable, see above)

The test site will be set up in the staff parking lot (corner of Green and Pierce). If weather prohibits an outdoor event, the testing will be moved inside the gym.

Currently, the schedule is open for one appointment per time slot. However, they will open more appointments based on demand.
