Winter MAP Testing
Students will be taking their 2nd MAP assessment of the year starting January 13th. Your child's teacher will have the specific dates for you when we return from break. The MAP test allows us to monitor academic growth and to compare classroom achievement to performance on this assessment. Any questions about the MAP test can be directed to your child's teacher. Although this test may provide great data, it is also one piece of the puzzle. You can prepare your child by encouraging them to give their best on the test, just like they do on all their tests- including taking their time.
Elf on the Shelf Challenge
Mrs. Mudore and I participated in an "Elf on the Shelf" challenge with other local elementary principals. During this challenge the elves were seen on the roof during arrival, they helped serve lunch, played at recess, attended the Santa Shop & Holiday Express, and even rode a bus home! The excitement on our students' faces was priceless. Look for the elves to reappear next year :)
Thank you, PTA!
WOW- our PTA had a busy month! The Holiday Express event was incredible. Thank you to everyone who worked on this! I am always amazed at the creativity, passion, and effort of all our volunteers. Our students are blessed!
Also, a huge thank you to all the PTA parent volunteers for organizing and managing our winter classroom parties. Our students looked like they were enjoying themselves! We really appreciate all the time you put into this event. A special thank you from our car-rider dismissal team for ending on time :)
Finally, thank you to everyone who donated and helped with the CRS baskets as well as sending in gift cards to help many of our families in need. Your generosity is unmatched- thank you!!!
Winter Weather Reminders
- The quickest way to receive updates regarding the closing of school due to inclement weather is through Mr. Laub's Twitter: @MikeLaubAvon
- We attempt to go outside in weather above 20 degrees (per our handbook). Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a coat, hat, and gloves.
Office Reminders
- Please bring your ID to sign your child out of school (please communicate this to anyone on your child's emergency pick-up list as well). This is for student safety.
- Please do not drive into the bus lanes during arrival and dismissal. We separate cars and buses for safety. Many parents are using this as a short-cut and a way to turn left onto Nagel Rd and our students' and staff safety is being compromised. We would appreciate all car rider parents staying in the car rider lane.
- Please do not drop your child off in front of the building if the car-rider doors are closed. We ask that you walk your child into the school.
- If your child will not be in school, please call our attendance line and leave a message stating the reason for the absence: 440-937-6084
- Please be sure to communicate any changes to your child's daily transportation. We require that a note be sent in with your child. If it is an emergency - please email the following staff - in addition to your child's teacher:
