Clarification about Library Book Fines
Emails will go out through the library computer system on the last Friday of each month as a piece of information. This does NOT mean you are being charged anything. These emails are just to remind parents and students they have had their library book(s) for 14 days or more. If they are done with the book, they should return it. If they are NOT done, they just need to let us know and we will renew it for them and continue to do so until they are finished reading the book.
This is new for everyone at Heights because we have never really had due dates before. With this new fine system, there had to be a set due date, and 14 days from the date of check out was chosen by the district at the elementary level.
No one will be charged for any library books until the book is not seen in the library for 90 days OR when a book is returned damaged beyond the point of being usable. If the missing book is found before the end of the school year, no fine will need to be paid. If a book is damaged beyond use, then there will be a fine assessed right away. Fines for lost and damaged books will automatically be recorded in Touch Base and can be paid online at https://www.crprairie.org/parents-students/payment-fees/.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with concerns or questions. This is new, there will be a learning curve for everyone. I appreciate your patience and understanding.
