Vose Owl Notes
Family Newsletter - September 15, 2021
Vose Families,
The 2021-22 School Year is underway and we have so enjoyed getting to know your children and families! We so appreciate your trust, patience and flexibility as we work hard to ensure every student and staff member is safe and in school all day, every day.
Our teachers look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night virtually on Zoom, this Thursday night. Please see the list of teacher's Zoom meeting ID#'s and passcodes that will be emailed and sent home Thursday, so you can log into your children's teachers' sessions. There will be QR codes that you can simply point your phone or tablet camera at and it will take you to the Zoom meeting for your child's teacher. There will be two sessions so parents can attend more than one teacher's session. The first session will be at 5:30pm and the second session will be at 6:00pm.
This week we have also sent home some important information with students. Please check your child's backpack and let your child's teacher know if you need another copy of anything:
- First Week's Packet:
- School Year Calendar
- Arrival & Dismissal Process & Map
- Safety Reminders for driving during arrival & departure
- Vose Elementary Student Expectations
- Fall Food Resources

We hope you can enjoy the cooler fall weather together as a family!

Important Arrival & Dismissal Reminders:
We appreciate everyone working together to ensure our arrival and dismissal are safe and orderly. We have attached the process and map below for you to review carefully if you haven't come for arrival or dismissal in the last six months. There are processes, changes and updates that are important to follow including to please remember to:
- Wear masks at all times
- Try to maintain social distancing as much as possible
- Drive slowly in our parking lot, cars and little bodies are not a good match.
- Use all crosswalks and do not cut between cars or duck under flagging
- Follow instructions and guidance of school staff, especially at crosswalks
- Have students ride the bus if they have an assigned stop. Please know that the more parents who drive and walk to pick up their students, the more crowded and the longer it will take. If your child qualifies for riding the bus, we strongly encourage you to have them ride the bus if at all possible
- ALWAYS bring your Family Pick Up colored number card if you are picking up your child in a car or walking
- Take the time to teach your child their color and number so they know to look for it on the display TV screen in their classroom. Teachers will not release students unless they say they see their color/number on the display (indicating you have arrived at the school)
- Stay in the area of your youngest child's grade level if you are walking to pick-up and remind your older children to come to that designated grade level area. For example, if you have a Kindergartener and a 3rd grader, ask the 3rd grader to meet you in the Kindergarten area.
Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as all 700+ students and LOTS of families are learning new processes all at the same time! We all want to ensure students get to their families safely while maintaining everyone's health and safety. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Dogs Not Allowed on Campus
It is the school district policy that domesticated animals are not allowed on District property and will not be brought on District grounds, into schools, or transported on District buses. Vose Elementary is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, secure and enjoyable campus environment for all members of the community, our visitors and guests. We are proud to have a beautiful school facility that provides clean, green and safe places for all to enjoy. The responsibility falls on all of us to create a welcoming campus environment. This means taking measures designed to prevent someone from dealing with allergies, being hurt or feeling uncomfortable. Therefore, we request that you comply with school district policy that requires your dog to not be on school grounds, unless it is a service dog. This letter serves as an official written warning. Persons found to be in further violation of this policy, will receive an additional warning in person, by phone or by letter. Further violations may result in the violator(s) being trespassed from school district property. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact Monique Singleton, Principal, Vose Elementary.
Important Information:
Cool Weather = Warmer Clothing: Since students have two outdoor recesses plus outdoor movement breaks each day and PE outside twice a week this fall, we strongly encourage students to dress for the weather, including wearing jackets with hoods, water proof/water resistant if possible since we do not have options for indoor recesses due to social distancing requirements.
Lost & Found: Please remind your student to check the Lost & Found regularly for lost items. We also recommend parents write your student's name on water bottles as well as tags on coats, sweatshirts, hats and other clothing. Even writing the last name helps make sure items get returned to your child.
Owl Wings: As a Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) School, Vose staff strives to teach students our expectations and goals for them, and then positively reinforce them so they are encouraged to keep working and growing to improve in order to meet those expectations. One way we honor their efforts to distribute "Owl Wings" which are small pieces of paper to
New classroom addition to Vose: Even though our current building is only 4 years old, we have already outgrown the classroom spaces available. Therefore, we will have an addition built onto the back of the school, including a remodeling of our library space with 4 more classrooms added. Construction will start after Spring Break 2022. More info to come!
Birthdays: At Vose we celebrate student birthdays through song and/or recognition by classroom teachers and classmates. Families should know we do not allow individual parties, balloons or snacks delivered as these are distracting as well not being equitable or inclusive. Thank you in advance for respecting this policy.
