Weekly Notes
From Glass
Greetings!
One Team, One Dream!
Thanks for another great week!
You have done an outstanding job with the acclimation period! Students are back into the swing of things.
Be sure to review all Back To School Check Lists and correspondences from Mrs. Canty regarding Teacher Access Center. A few key items to remember:
Schedule time to review your PR's with Ms. Lyles
Review all student data from last year that you have available
Mark your personal calendars with dates form the Master calendar and school calendar
Grade level PLC minutes should be sent to admin weekly
Designate team members to support the tasks across the grade level
How did you display your selected habit of Highly Effective people last week?
As a team we have been VERY Proactive over the last 2 weeks and this made things flow smootly! Thanks TEAM!
Wolf Creek Creed - Please have your students learn the creed.
At Wolf Creek we:
P – have a Positive Attitude
A – are Accountable for our choices
C –model good Character
K- show Kindness to everyone
Our PACK is ready to achieve great things! We will:
be ENGAGED in our learning process,
be ACCOUNTABLE for our actions,
be RESPONSIBLE for our growth and academic achievement,
be a LEADER in our school and our community.
We are BUILDING Pathways To Success!
Let’s Go Wolves!
Culture and Climate/PBIS/Discipline/LIM
How are you doing in implementation of our school wide PBIS initiative? By now students should have been exposed to the PACK Creek. We should be recognizing them for their display of these characteristics. Let's drum up Wolf Bucks! Tie their efforts to No Homework passes, extra time on technology, Lunch Bunch with the teacher, etc. Many of you have submitted your grade level discipline plans. They look good. If you have not done so, please submit them.
Students will have the opportunity to save up their bucks to shop at the Wolf Den or for the End of The Month celebration. We need feedback form4th and 5th graders regarding what they may want to see in the Wolf Den. We want them to "want" to earn bucks and visit the Wolf Den.
Don't forget to display your Leader In Me posters. I have received very positive comments from parents about the 7 Habits! They love the song from the morning announcements! Way to go Huff! Right now its about exposing them to the 7 habits and the adults using the habits "as adults" throughout the building. Are you making deposits? Are you using proactive language?
Be sure that you hold your class accountable for their lunch behavior. The cafeteria duty team met last week to discuss the systems and recognizing the classes for their great behavior.
Student agendas should reflect daily behavior from the school wide color pyramid. Parents are expected to sign daily.
The use of Class Dojo is looking great! Shout out to Mr. Haywood, Mr. Baker, Mrs. Conley and Ms. Bishop for your "Postings of Success" in your classrooms! . Parents love to hear and see what happening in school! Great job! There's room for more! Join us!
Stay tuned for Twitter and Facebook Takeover opportunities for your grade levels!
Remember one of our goals...Building positive school Culture and Climate! First impressions are important. Please be reminded of this when receiving new students in your classrooms. Be welcoming and open to receiving new students. Think about how you would like for you own child, niece or nephew to be received in a new place.
Continue to be solution oriented. We want our stakeholders to leave with a feeling of resolve. The Key: front load and over-communicate. :-)
Thanks for all you do!
Success Shout Outs!
Ms. Lyles and Mrs. Canty for a great start! Enrolment Count went well!! Now they are wrapping up scheduling. It has been a learning curve and they have both accepted the challenge!
Admin and Support - Hall, Braggs, Bridges, Brewer, Maye, Sherman, Keel, Gibson, Veal. Theses ladies have stepped up and executed several "new" and old tasks without hesitation. We have new team mates and though in a learning curve, they too have accepted the challenge and have done well!

Specialists Hall, Calefatti, Newphew, Morris, Charles, Jiles for your support prior to beginning the Specialist/TAG schedule and orienting students with their first visits to your classes!
Ms. Dixson and team (and those that supported them) during the breakfast and lunch rush! You made it look seamless!

DRA, Sight word and Math Pre-assessments testing administrations are underway! Reach out to Mrs. Hall for questions and support.
Fast Bridge has been adopted as Fulton County's new Universal Screener. It will take the place of STAR. Mrs. Hall, Ms. Bridges, and Ms. Searcy will attend training on Wednesday this week. They will roll out the implementation of the testing window after that. Stay tuned for more information. The data results from Fast Bridge will support you in solidifying groups and moving on with RTI process.
RTI window is from 1:30 - 2:00 PM daily. Use this week to begin using this time to set the tone for what is to come. The RTI model consists of 2 adults in every classroom for 30 minutes while students participate in remediation and acceleration activities. This time should be interactive and hands-on. Our school wide RTI model will be shared with you. The Fast Bridge window is scheduled from 8/25 - 9/15 for our school. It is highly likely that it will not take us the entire window but with this being our first administration ever, be prepared for the window as outlined. The Fast Bridge results are expected to include a Lexile score which will support our AR program as well.
Gradual implementation of your instructional model should be going on as you move students into your full models in ELA/Reading, Math, SS. Science, and Health. Our rotations should be 20 minutes during reading specifically. Students should receive instruction at the teacher station, rotate to a technology station and other group and independent activities.
Things to think about:
How will your students rotate? On a bell, on a timer, on a key phrase or teacher prompt?
How will you make that rotation orderly and consistent?
What will students do in the stations?
Be sure to review all correspondences regarding upcoming BLAST and AR trainings from Mrs. Hall and Dr. huff.

County Dates and Information:
Good afternoon and Welcome to the new school year!
FCS requests that all employees review some essential policies/training materials annually, so that there is an awareness of the serious expectations outlined in each. The list of this information is accessed and submitted electronically in order to establish a record of the training. It is not an exhaustive list. Also, when policy revisions are made or new ones created, a systemic alert is made to notify district personnel of the policy change(s). (If you are a new hire this is part of your “First 30 days” requirements; please review the instructions listed on the New Employee portal page link).
In order to complete this review,
1. Please go to www.fultonschools.org, Human Resources/Talent Department the bottom of the page
2. Click on Access Personnel Records/Forms link (at bottom right of page)
3. Log in using your FCS email address and click on Forgot Password to have the information sent to you if you don’t recall the password (it may not be your normal network password) OR to receive your initial password
4. Click on Forms tab, New Form, go to Employee Policy Code/Review-FY18
5. Click on Start Form to begin your review
Several of the essential trainings are housed in Edivate. Watch this brief tutorial to see how to access required trainings and other trainings/courses: Edivate Basic Navigation
It is important that all read Policy GAM (Staff Rights and Responsibilities). Failure to report an arrest within the stated timeline (5 days) can result in the immediate termination of one’s employment with FCS. The electronic Notice of Employee Arrest form is on the Human Resources portal and is to be used for submitting an official notice to the Employee Relations department.
Finally, OCTOBER 31, 2017 is the deadline for completing this review. Again, the checklist is not exhaustive, and it is expected that employees are aware of all the FCBOE policies/procedures that inform their work. Board policies, procedures, and operating guidelines are accessible via the district website.
Please contact the Technology Help Desk if you need assistance, technologyhelpdesk@fultonschools.org or 470-254-4357.
Thank You,

ES Principals,
Seesaw Now Available on Launchpad
There are some changes that have been implemented for the 2017-18 school year for the program Seesaw. FCS is now providing Seesaw for Schools to all students and teachers in Grades K-5 as an optional resource. Seesaw is a digital portfolio for elementary students. It does have some additional features beyond the free version of Seesaw which many teachers have been using. One thing that will change for this school year is how teachers and students will login to Seesaw. Seesaw is accessible now via Launchpad. Once students and teachers login to Seesaw they will click the Seesaw app to open the program. Classes are being created for teachers via a nightly data feed.
Elementary teachers at schools who used Seesaw last year will receive the email below on August 8. Elementary teachers at schools that did not use Seesaw last year will receive an email introducing them to Seesaw on August 14.
If teachers need Seesaw training, please direct them to ourSeesaw Training site. Seesaw offers online training in a variety of formats including PD in Your PJs!
If you have any questions, please contact Hoke Wilcox, Director of Instructional Technology.
-----Teacher Email to be sent by FCS------------
Teacher First Name,
Fulton County Schools is providing Seesaw as an option for documenting student work and communicating with parents. Seesaw is a student-driven digital portfolio. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students "show what they know" using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It's simple to get student work in one place and share with parents, and nothing is shared without teacher approval.
Your Seesaw teacher account has been created for you and your students -- you can sign in by clicking Seesaw inLaunchpad.
To get started you may also want to:
1: Get the App! Download the iOS app, Android app, or Kindle Fire apphere. Bookmark the Fulton County Schools Launchpad portal on your computer.
2: Follow the Seesaw getting started guides for your grade.
· K-2 resources
· 3-5 resources
We're excited to see what your students create using Seesaw this year!
