Welcome back!
The spring semester gets really busy and goes by very fast. Before we realize it, we'll be planning for next year and then it will be summer! However, in the meantime we will be meeting with teachers to review their goals and teachers will be meeting with students about revising their goals. I'd encourage you to talk with your child about the goals they set earlier this year as well as what they want to achieve for the rest of the year. Your encouragement will help insure that they understand the importance of setting goals, keeping data and reviewing progress on a regular basis.

School Report Card
Attached you will find our 2015–16 TEA School Report Card. The School Report Card provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as, as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The School Report Card for each campus can also be found on TEA's website at https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/2016/campus.srch.html.
In addition to the School Report Card, the more detailed Texas Academic Performance Report for our campus can be accessed online at http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/45546.
If you have any questions about either report, please contact me. Paper copies of both reports can be viewed in our main office.
A-F ratings
On Thursday, as part of House Bill 2804, the Texas Education Agency released the provisional A-F ratings for every school and district in the state. These official ratings will not be released until August 2018, but the provisional ratings attempt to provide schools and districts an estimate of how campuses could rank under the new accountability system.
Commissioner of Education Mike Morath has said “the provisional ratings are for informational purposes to meet legislative requirements. No inferences about district or campus performance in the 2015-2016 school year should be drawn from these ratings, and these ratings should not be considered predictors of future district or campus performance ratings. Campus and district ratings for 2017-2018 will use different data and different indicators.”
As a district, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will comply with all State accountability and assessment requirements; however, this is not the only indicator that we use to measure our success. We celebrate our number of National Merit Semifinalists, the number of links on a Rachel’s Challenge chain, the emphasis placed on college and career readiness for all students, personalized learning plans and student-led conferences and the integration of technology in the classroom. As a campus, we celebrate Glenhope's 6 distinction designations from last year and the terrific learning that is going on everyday in your child's classroom.
In an attempt to help parents understand the A-F ratings, the district has created a webpage with more information about A-F. That page may be found here.
