Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Hart Families,
This week, we have a lot to celebrate. Please join me in congratulating Viraj in winning second place at his Chess tournament. Over the past couple of weeks, our Kindergarteners in Science have been learning about the parts and cycle of growth for flowers. They finished their unit by planting seeds in the front of our building. This is a "WIN-WIN" for us. Our Kindergarteners will have the opportunity to see Science in action while making our school more beautiful. A big thank you to Brian Butler, Preston Burkhalter, and Jace Hafner for preparing our flower beds for our gardeners.
Please join me in congratulating Sarah Moody, a first grade teacher, for being recognized as Heart of a Teacher for the month of April. Mrs. Moody has an amazing heart and an incredible gift that she shares with our students daily. She is a problem-solver, a strong leader, and has a great ability to connect with any student. For Heart of Support, the recipient is Megan Kendrick, an instructional aide for special education. Ms. Kendrick is patient, kind, and hardworking. She makes strong connections with our students, and she pushes them to be the very best. Mrs. Moody and Ms. Kendrick add value to our school, and we are proud that they are a part of the Hart team.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
ACTION NEEDED! Intent to Return Form
Good Afternoon Lovejoy Families,

We are looking for responses from all Lovejoy ISD families.
Thank you for your help and support. It’s great to be a Leopard!

Pink eye and Strep Throat are still going around. If you suspect your child has either of these, please do not send your child to school as both of these require 24 hours of antibiotics to be cleared.
Clothing Donations: The clinic needs your help again as our borrowed clothing inventory is low. The clinic needs clothing in every elementary age especially bottoms, unused underwear, and socks.
As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if he/she has:
o A fever of 100.0F degrees or greater
o Vomiting or Diarrhea
o An infection that requires antibiotics (i.e. Strep throat, bronchitis, etc.) unless they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours.
If you have any questions, info about your child I need to know, or your child tests positive for anything, feel free to contact me. Thank you for helping me keep Hart healthy!
