Simone Collins

All about me

My name is Simone Collins and I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Education at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle Western Australia. I am currently completing the first year of my degree.

I attended Mandurah Catholic College from K-12. During my last few of years at school my mind became focused on the care of children. I have always been interested in helping people help themself and to achieve their own dreams and goals. During school I studied childcare and at the age of seventeen I began a traineeship at Small Friends Playschool where I completed my Cert III in Child Services which then when I finished school lead me to complete a Diploma and which resulted in becoming a qualified childcare worker, also known as an Educator.

Small Friends Playschool is an early learning program that provides children with an environment to learn through play. A program developed for 2 ½ - 5 year olds offering educational care. While working and study at Small Friends I have learnt many skills related to the role of being an effective teacher. Watching children develop and learn as a result of your work is an achievement and something that all staff are very proud of. My job role includes the directing of children to learn and develop socially, emotionally, convivially and physically. I am a big believer in, the first few years of a child’s life are the most crucial in development. The things they learn in the first few years of their life will stay with them forever. I am so grateful to know that I am contributing to these important stage in their lives.

Career Goals

Throughout my career I hope to provide children with the best education they can receive. By making sure children are apart of a fun, safe, loving and classroom enviroment as well as receiving the best education avaliable. I aim to teach children to the best of my ability showing effective communication, good classroom management and a learning environment for children that they benefit not only at the time they are at school but throughout their entire time at school.
