Greetings Dresden Families

Back by popular demand...Dresden PTO Bingo Night on April 14th at 6 p.m. in our gymnasium. All Dresden families are invited to come and participate in a fun filled family evening. We will once again be collecting donations for our raffle baskets give away. The more donations we receive the bigger the baskets become. Please check out the fliers below for information on donations and to see how you can help make this night even better.

To celebrate March is Reading Month, Dresden Elementary has many fun activities to help encourage students to keep reading. This year's theme is "Paws for Reading". On March 2nd we had a March is Reading Month kick off celebration in which the students were challenged to read 20 minutes a day to meet their personal goal. Students where then asked to use the reading calendar that was sent home to record their daily progress. Parents/ guardians will need to sign the students daily reading calendar. If a student makes their goal of reading 20 minutes a day, everyday for the month of March and has their calendar signed daily, that student will be invited to a special movie event here at Dresden. In addition to the students individual challenge we will be having many fun filled events throughout the month (please see the attached calendar below). March is Reading month is a great way to encourage all students to read. Studies have shown time and time again that student who read on a regular bases continue to do better in school then those that do not.

Once again, for the 2023-2024, school year breakfast and lunch will be served free of cost to the all students at Dresden. In order for us to keep this program going for years to come I need your help. Below you will see a link titled "Dresden Meals are FREE", please go to the web site and fill out the information. Doing so will allow us to keep this program alive and allow our students to continue to eat here at Dresden at no cost to you and your family. To keep this program, it is vital that we have parent/guardian participation. Please go to the web site and complete the form.

I strongly encourage all of our parents to talk with their children about the importance of school and being prepared to do their best. When a child refuses to participate in their learning by not doing their assignments or by being disrespectful in class they are hurting their future success. We need to all work together to prevent this from happening. We expect all students to be actively involved in their education and we expect all students to maintain proper behavior while at school. Again, failure to do so will impede your child's future success.

If you have a question or concern, I need you to call me. Please do not email if you have an emergent concern that needs to be addressed. Calling and talking together we can solve any problem.

With Much Respect,

Principal Brad Suggs

Outside Recess? Dress warm (Hopefully only for a few more weeks...Spring is Coming)

Our policy for going outside for recess is if it is not rainy, too windy or colder than 10 degrees Fahrenheit, we are going outside. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. If there is a medical reason for your child not to go outside then you will need to provide the front office with a note from your doctor to keep them inside.

Please, do not send your child to school when they are sick.

We are seeing an influx of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), a contagious viral respiratory illness that may effect the lungs and breathing passage. In many cases a high fever may occur. If a child is feeling ill please do not send them school. Let them rest at home, get better and return to school when they are feeling well. If your child will be out I do ask that you call our attendance line at 586-797-4599 and leave your child's name, teacher's name and the reason for absence. You can leave a message on our attendance line anytime 24/7.

Students are not permitted to self medicate or carry medication with them at anytime while they are attending school unless you have filled out a medical plan with the office. A medical plan must be signed by your doctor. This includes over the counter medicines such as cough syrup, aspirin, ect.. If you have any questions please give us a call and we will help you.
