In 1974 Chinese farmers discovered the Terracotta Army (the Terracotta warriors and horses) in Xian, China. What they found were 3 pits containing the Terracotta Army, held more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses. It was actually discovered whilst Chinese farmers were digging a water well. The Terracotta Army is considered one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, and one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century
