All ACE 2.0 RLA and self-contained teachers will receive Fountas and Pinnell BAS kits and leveled readers to implement independent reading and guided reading from the Early Learning and RLA department.
During this time teachers will be able to...
- review the basic frame for the year ahead (goals, support, ongoing pd, etc.)
- learn about pre-assessing and introducing the process and tools of Responsive Teaching: From Assessment to Literacy Instruction as outlined in the F&P book Literacy Continuum within the context of the balanced literacy framework. The steps to this process are:
- Observe Reading/Writing/Language Behaviors
- Use Behavioral Evidence to infer (“in-the-head” strategic activities)
- Prioritize Behaviors and Understandings to Notice, Teach, for Support
- Teach for the Reader’s/Writer’s Change in Strategic Actions
Teachers will go home with their BAS kits and resources following the training!
Teachers and CICs will receive supplemental pay and lunch will be provided for attendees.
We look forward to seeing you there!
