WEEKLY PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Please check out my video update for the week!
PCHS POSITIVE
Google Classroom Tips
Students and Parents, we want to share some different shortcuts and views for Google Classroom to help you navigate what you need to work on and what is missing. We created a quick video to show you how to view assignments in a list view in a calendar, and a to-do list by class. Check it out. It works best if teachers have assigned due dates in Google classroom and some do not have this set up, but we have put the word out and hope teachers can add due dates to help you out. At the end of the video there is also a short section on how to change your notifications in Google classroom. This may help to lower the amount of emails.
Senior Post
On Friday, PCHS Seniors and their parents were sent a PCHS Senior Post newsletter containing a graduation update and ways we are celebrating the Class of 2020. We are finalizing plans to reschedule our Commencement ceremony for Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the KCI Expo Center. As we get closer to this date, we will be communicating additional details. We are collaborating with our local health department on the safety of hosting a large gathering, and will update you with any changes as needed, but please save this date.
Last Day of School/Virtual Learning
Friday, May 22, 2020 is designated as our last day of school for the 2019-20 school year and our virtual learning. Platte County High School seniors' last day is set for May 8.
Grab and Go Meal Pickup Changes
Starting Monday, April 13, we moved to a new model of meal distribution. Sites will only be open and bus delivery will only occur on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students will receive two days worth of meals on Mondays and three days worth of meals on Wednesdays. Click here for details on the process and current menu.
Online Re-enrollment/Proof of Residency Open for Existing Students
Resident parents of existing K-11th grade students are asked to complete online re-enrollment forms and electronic proof of residency for the 2020-21 school year.
- Please log on to Parent Portal to complete the re-enrollment process by May 15, 2020. Click here for a step-by-step guide with screenshots.
- Please visit the Proof of Residency page for guidance on the electronic process and complete by July 17, 2020. Click here for instructions.
2020-21 Student Activities Information
The spring semester of each school year is often filled with preparations, sign ups, and tryouts for activities and opportunities for the following year. With our school closure, we are being creative with these events. Please visit this page for the latest updates on sign ups and tryouts for dance team, cheer, color guard, choir, band, and Pirate Mentors. Additional class and organization information will be added to this page as details are set.

Summer School Update
With our school closure for the remainder of the academic year, we are working on contingency plans for our 2020 Summer School. Listed below are our current plans:
- 9-12 online and credit recovery courses (for incoming and current PCHS students) will take place virtually in June 2020.
- All K-8 and in-person grades 9-12 Summer School will not occur in June 2020.
- We are working on Summer School options (including Driver's Ed) for July, in collaboration with our local health department and the Missouri Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE).
We will communicate with our families and staff with updates to our Summer School program once confirmed.
Counseling Update
Treasure Chest
The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is providing groceries to assist families who qualify for Free or Reduced Meal Plans. Families will need to register here or call 816.858.7001 weekly so we can appropriately plan for resources. Once approved, families can drive through to receive additional food on Wednesdays from 4-6 pm at either the Treasure Chest site (in the north parking lot of PCHS) or through Barry School’s circle drive.
