News from School

February 7, 2022

As the weather fluctuates over the next few weeks, stay alert to school updates and be sure students are coming to school with hats, gloves, and warm coats. If you have a need for any of these items, please let us know.

We appreciate our "village" when the weather hits, and everyone is at home together for eLearning. Thank you for your partnership with assisting with school work and communicating needs along the way. Our hope is that students will return to school on Monday with all eLearning complete. This allows teachers to respond to needs and reteach/review as needed. Understanding there could be extenuating circumstances, the final due dates for eLearning are posted below:

  • Assignments from 2/2 is due 2/10
  • Assignments from 2/3 are due 2/11
  • Assignments from 2/4 are due 2/14

Need to Know Info...

Valentine's Day: With the upcoming holiday, each grade level will determine how they will spread kindness and friendship within the school and beyond. If students bring valentines to school, they should bring one for each student in their class. If students receive special deliveries such as flowers or balloons, they will need to be picked up from school that day. These items cannot be transported on the school bus. As we approach February 14, talk with your children about how they can spread kindness and be a friend all year long!

Science Club & Science Fair: Does your child like science? Do they like to conduct experiments? Then don’t miss out on the fun. The date for the annual Science Fair is March 10. Information packets are available on the school website. Students wanting guidance in preparing for the Science Fair may participate in the Science Club. The club will meet after school on Tuesdays until 4:00. The first of four meetings will be February 15. Attendence at all four meetings is not required. Mrs. Lester will be presenting new information about preparing for the Science Fair at each meeting. Permission slips will be available on our school website or from Mrs. Lester.

Heart & Sole Shoe Drive: Student Council is partnering with The Boone County Solid Waste Management District to collect used shoes throughout the month of February! Beginning February 1st through the 20th, all types of shoes will be collected. Shoes in reusable condition will be redistributed to those in need and shoes that are unusable will be recycled. Pair shoes together, no bags or boxes please! There will be a shoe drop box in the lobby area. Our schoolwide goal is: 300 pairs collected = spirit day, 500 pairs collected = spirit day with a movie, 1,000 pairs collected = spirit day WITH a movie AND popcorn!!!!

Spring Family Night - Mark your calendars....Save the date... Plan to join us for Spring Family Night on March 10th. Student art work and science fair projects will be on display. We'll also host free night of fun with Bingo for Books! Plan to play several games of bingo to win books and other prizes! Refreshments will be provided.

IREAD-3/ILEARN Testing: Students in grade 3 will participate in IREAD-3 testing on March 7-9. We will test in the morning, so please make every effort to be at school on time and avoid making appointments on these days. ILEARN testing for grades 3-8 will run between April 18-May 13. A more detailed schedule for ILEARN will be available closer to the start of that testing window.
